lvl 58 questingFollow

Hi everyone!

I'm lvl 56 right now and I've never really levelled alone. I'm always either grouping for instances or grinding with my warlock girlfriend.

I'm specced holy and I think I'm doing ok for group situations but we decided that when we reach level 58, we're splitting up to do the first quests in hellfire peninsulas to gear up before we come back to Azeroth and do Scholo / Strat ( We're planning on doing all the instances in the game in order).

Basically my question is: Do I respec prot or ret to do those couple of quests? Any important pieces of equipment at that level I shouldn't pass up?

If you suggest I go prot, should I get a better shield? Is my weapon alright for prot grinding a bit? If I go ret, any great weapon I should be looking for?

Or, is it easy to level holy for a couple of quests, only slower?

Here's my armory if you wanna take a look at what I have to help me a bit more.

Also, any great pieces of gear I should be looking for? I'm going back to healing after this.

The initial quests in Hellfire come on a steep learning curve. It's not that they're hard, it's just that they were designed to be challenging to people who'd got all the end-game 60 gear, not level 58s in greens. So the first few monsters can be surprisingly hard to deal with.

That said, those first few quests replace your sword, shield, chest and legs, so no need to worry about buying gear. And once you've got them, your stats shoot straight up, and monsters suddenly become trivially easy.

Advice: if you're respeccing Ret or Prot, or indeed intending to do any soloing, put on plate. Your armory is showing lots of leather and mail. That's fine for group healing, not fine for solo work. I wouldn't advise questing as holy in any situation. I may be biased because I'm prot, but prot is probably the best way to go until at least level 68. You can solo just as fine as ret, but you're still an attractive choice for instances. On that, your shield and hammer are fine for a 58 prot pally.

Like I said, just rifle through your bank for your plate pieces and wear them until they get replaced by the immediately better items from Hellfire. That said - why not group for the Hellfire quests? Your main objective with those is to get the quest rewards as quickly as possible, and teaming up makes that much faster and easier.

Besides that; for ret, there's the 2hander that drops off Omor in Ramparts, as well as the neckpiece and belt, so you'll want to look into that for leveling as ret. As prot or holy, there's a 1hander from Blood Furnace. You'll be stuck with the quest reward shield for a while, I think.

Personally, as a holy paladin I had no trouble at all making the adjustment to Outlands at 58. I hated Silithus so much that I dropped everything when I dinged to get out of there.

One of the good things about Outlands is that the early quests have a fair amount of demons so you can actually use Exorcism. With the change made to 'Turn Undead' in the last patch, if you get into trouble you may be able to use the new version of the spell to help save yourself. I personally don't think you need to respec to do this. A Holy paladin can do fine in Outlands.

honestly, my suggestion would be to continue to group up for those quests. if you absolutely insist on solo'ing them though, you'll be fine as holy. my first toon was holy and did fine at 58 getting though those quests. if you've been gearing as holy i wouldn't recommend respecc'ing ret or prot. you're used to holy and your gear will only gimp you as anything other than holy. SoR, exorcism and Holy shock will be fine since you should have um, the 30% spell damage from int which will let those hit hard enough. probably harder than a holy geared ret or prot spec.

i really recommend grouping though if its feasible. grouing always goes faster and is more fun... especially as a holy pally.
