Mechanar positioning question...Follow

Hi guys, I ran Mech (normal) for the first time last night, and felt like I was having a tough time pulling my own weight during some of the pulls (with the Mech Tinkerers) and the boss fight on the first level of the instance (Mechano Lord-Capacitus). In both cases I had trouble getting close enough to do any meaningful dps without being killed by the bombs (or seriously stressing out the healer)...

I was lucky enough to be with a good group that had adequate ranged dps and we got through it, but to be honest I felt like I was just "along for the ride" until we got to the 2nd and 3rd boss fights.

I read some of the strategies posted on wowwiki, but I was wondering if anyone had had similar experiences and what you did to be more effective? I gather that careful positioning for Capacitus might allow for relatively safe melee damage, but is there a similar positioning strategy for the tinkerer pulls?

Thanks!

Nope, on the Tinkerers don't even bother trying unless you feel like dieing.

You could cloak and get aobut 5 seconds of DPS in but other than that not at all.

For the 1st boss where are you fighting him? You should be fighting him on the steps so the bombs can't get to you. I'd explain in more detail but I'm too lazy...

But yea, for the tinkerers you don't do **** unless you don't want to die.

Also I hope you like Mech because you're gonna be seeing alot of it...I was in there 42 time before I got my trinket.

you cant do much about the tinkeres, but they dont last long enough to really matter anyway.

for capacitus (normal) the tank needs to stand a few yards up the stairs and tank him over the edge. this keeps all his bombs on the lower level away from the tank and melee. you just stand by the tank, so if you are a dagger rogue, sorry for ya.

on heroic mech he polarizes the party and at that point you have to be aware of who you stand next to.

In my guild the tank stands downstair, on the right of the stairs, turning Capacitus with the back near the edge of the stairs, so the rest of the party stands on the edge of the stairs, all the bombs stays downstairs and the healer needs only to worry for the tank. A combat dagger rogue can stand safely with the rest of the party, and be careful to stop dps when Capacitus reflects it.

On heroic, we tank him downstair, with the ranged on the right edge of the stairs and tose polarized + stay up, those polarized - stay down. For melee, Capacitus has a HUGE melee area, so you can stay far from the tank without bothering about the polarization and paying attention only to bombs (don't remember ATM if there are bombs on heroic... been a long time).

For the tinkerer, be sure to have a lock in your party.

My trinket dropped on my first run, one of the few times I was lucky :P

You shouldn't have any problems with the tinkerers if you have a decent tank and healer. Ours kites in circles, making the bombs less of an issue. I still get dps on them. As for the boss, stand about 5 steps up and SS his face. All you can do. Heroic - neg goes up pos goes down.

the lock just makes the tinkerers easy. i've rarely had a lock for those pulls and i wouldnt say you need one. Interesting capcitus strategies though, its amazing the different things people do on different servers. All my tanking experience has been on Anetheron alliance, until just recently now im horde on a different server. They all roll weird, they arent used to the way i pull the instance, they didnt fight the boss the same way i did. Wiped a couple times because i just assumed that was how it was done and didnt explain myself.

and they dont call the guy in BM that does adds "goalie". they didnt know wtf i was talking about lol.

One thing you might want to try on Mechano Lord-Capacitus, at the bottom of the stairs to the left there in a ledge that curves around. When i am tanking on my pally i have the melee DPS stand on that ledge(at max melee range). The bombs bounce off the bottom of the ledge and miss the people standing on the top. Healers and casters stay on the stairs about 2 to 3 steps up. Makes the encounter very easy just have to watch for the spell/physical reflect shields.
