I am closing in on lvl 70 and I have read in the Alla boards about "starter" gear sets you can acquire through friendly reputation with five OL factions.
I want to search for them online, but I have no idea what to search for. Can someone guide me in the right direction? Name or gear? Name of vendor? Anything?

I believe you need honored with the factions. You can look up some of the Quatermasters and see what they sell to see what gear they have.

+6 stats to chest, +26AP to gloves, +16 hit, 34AP to head, +30 sta, 10 agi to legs, + 26 AP to shoulders.
Red sockets filled with +8 agi, yellow with +4 res, 6 stam.
With a 0/42/19 spec and another 16 +hit from other gear(or none if you're a dreanei), you'd get some pretty decent stats to start PvPing with.
You could get another bunch of items from the pre-raid gearlist that are world drops and questrewards and you'd get a damn decent pvp set without ever setting foot in a dungeon :)

Alright, I've gotten totally confused (not an unusual state for me! ^_^ ).
My friend was telling me all about this. He said all I needed was honored and some gold and instant rep gear from the rep vendor for the faction.
I bopped into Aldor central and checked. Well, it looked more like an upgrade scheme to me. I needed to have "Pauldrons of the Fallen Hero" to upgrade to "Demon Stalker <blah><blah>". Eh?
The gear looks great but WTH? So, I need to go get the 'base' gear then upgrade as my 'rep' upgrades?
Anyone got a linky to point me at where we can read all about the new 2.4 armors? I sort of get the S1-3, T1-6, D... whatever. Now add this into the mix and I wanna kill Blizz.
My gear sucks for the most part. I'd like to upgrade it to anything better but now I have no idea what to persue. I just barely got enough points yesterday to get a new piece of S3 tomorrow. I'd like to get some kind of plan together and not waste them if other armors are available.
So, some help from an expert to point me at a comprehensive armor listing that includes 2.4, not the FAQ please, been there, done that a few times over. Looking for a different approach.

The gear you were looking at is the T4 gear. The tokens drop from raid bosses.
The gear the OP wanted was the new rep pvp gear, which you can obtain from faction quartermasters (Lower City, Thrall(honor hold), etc.)

This gear, the originals drop in 25 man Sunwell, and you convert them to even better gear with Sunmotes.
The waist, wrist, and feet of the T6 hunter set were introduced in 2.4 and drop in Sunwell.

That 25man sunwell stuff doesn't seem to have any hunter mail, looks like mostly +STA and +INT.
The rep gear doesn't look bad but you'd need to have honored with all those factions, so that is SOME work to do for it! LOL! Sadly, that's about all I have is a bunch of honored's... time to go shopping!

You most likely will end up at honored+ with most of those factions just by leveling to 70.

I haven't done any faction rep grinding at all. Some factions like KoT and Shatterd Sun offensive stuff are post 70 rep for me. (SS can't be done until 70 right?) Almost everything I have on my REP sheet was just done while leveling. Though now I might do some rep grinding but maybe not.
So I'm going to look for rep stuff I can get tonight and then spend my arena points in other areas since it looks like S4 will be a non-starter for me. Time to switch over to Raiding or straight BG PvP.
Not much else to focus on unless I want to start levelling my Pally again. Waiting for WotLK... ^_^
