Now, for my answer, I would say play what you like, it depends on your style, if you play any class right, you can level insanly fast. But, if you want a choice between Druid and Shadow Priest, go with the preist, you can heal early and get plenty of groups, and the playstyle is fun. In raids you are wanted for replinishing mana.

EDIT: Fixed a couple grammar errors and added the quote.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Spriests aren't the gods in PVP like they once were before TBC

Why not just play both? At least long enough to figure out which you like better? I like having a few alts; more rested xp for everyone.

I actually find the PVE experience with my shadow priest to be eerily similar to what leveling my feral druid was like, despite one being a caster and the other (mostly) melee. No downtime, plenty of panic buttons, adds are not a problem, and that handiest of options, self-healing. Both are great fun. I can't speak to PVP.

As for race, in the end it doesn't make enough difference to stop you picking whatever you think looks the coolest. But if you decide on a priest, the human Spirit bonus can be nice.

Druids can heal just as well as priests, and our best leveling spec (feral) can tank and has useful talents to support healing (Heart of the Wild and Nuturing Instincts). I'd say level both to 20 when S Priests get Mind Flay and Druids get Cat form. See what you like leveling more then.

The thing thats nice about druids above any other class is they can do everything well.

Top DPS Caster - Crit chickens can top damage meters with the best of them.

Healer - Obvious

Tank - When im using my agro machine (lock) it always seems like druid tanks hold agro the best

PVP - Try killing a resto druid solo. Odds are youll give up in boredom and frustration before he dies

For you I would go Druid. Spriest is like a diet lock with no pet. The attack plan is a lot alike, dot up, fear if needed, most of your damage coming from dots or channeled spells (I leveled my lock drain tanking) with one or two nukes thrown in.

I have played all three classes, and would say that druid is the one that will be a most different then your lock, enough so that when you get bored with your lock you can play a completely different play style.

Just my two copper
