#1 Apr 22 2008 at 5:32 PM Rating: Default
Need a good solo build.I don't PVP unless provoked. My first time with a warlock.I usually play Mage or Hunter!I am going to solo my lock.Just don't know what to do.Currently level 11.Have 2 points and need some good lock advice as to were i should put them.At 70 i'll raid and instance. But for now just strictly soloing.I had a build in armory but for some apparent reason I couldn't copy URL!But it was Affliction/DEM based. Thanks for reading my post!

put your first 5 points into Improved Corruption. No matter what spec you end up with, having another instant DoT is never a bad idea.

Go affliction. Before you reach level 40 have your VW out to hold aggro, after 40 have your imp out, since it has the highest mana regen and the +stam really helps when your soloing.

I wouldn't call myself an "expert", but I do have a lvl 67 demonology warlock, which I play mostly solo.

Click the link in my signature, to see my build. My gear isn't ideal though...

Affliction - PvP
Demonology - PvE
Destruction - Raid

plain and simple. Thats what the trees were meant to be. Yes u can PvP as destro, yes u can PvE affliction, blah blah ... Everything is possible in this game, but that's beyond the purpose of the build. I DO recommend that you spend those first 5 points in Imp. Corruption (affliction tree) like Ohmikeghod said, and then continue to your respective build as you wish, keeping in mind what you want to do most pvp, pve etc.

Always have your VW out and and let him tank, what he was made for. It may not seem too importand right now, but later on you'll notice it. If you are killing something and you get 2 - 3 unexpected adds or a lovely member of the enemy faction trying to get his HK of the day and you have your imp out ... you'll think about me. with 2 - 3 adds you can have the VW aggro them all and run away (you get your shard back, dont worry), or fight them 1 by 1 easy. Or if its a player you can sacrifice, take care or the player and probly your mob will die as you kill the intrudes (DoTs).

I stongly suggest you use the skills, talents, tools Blizz gave you to get the job done as intended. After you are confortable with them, then you start doing other fancy stuff like having different pets out, trying different talent trees, and who knows all the crazy stuff people come up with. That's all I can think of... :(

Hmmm....

The main PvP spec du jour is SL/SL, not straight demo. And Affliction is a common leveling spec, and an efficient one as well. Now, if you are on a PvP server, you may want to have the VW out, but on any other server I really don't agree with that.

Why do people have to post crap?

Affliction is great in PvE also. Drain Tanks are Affliction, one of the best levelling builds. For raiding, if your stats are lacking for Destro, this is a great alternative. Also, most raids prefer to have at least one Affliction lock for Malediction. Dark Pact also keeps us going after mages have gone OOM.

Demonolgy is probably better for PvP than Affliction due to Soul Link. Though the best PvP build is a mix of the 2, the SL/SL build. Destro is about surviveability. While Drain Tanking works pretty good in PvP too, you need Soul Link to mitigate damge too.

Destruction is only good for raids after you've reached a certain gear level. You gotta have 170+ Spell Hit, 15% crit and 1000-1200 Spell Dam for it to really start to pull ahead of a solid Affliction build.

Is it people like you posting that Destruction is always best for raids no matter the circumstance the reason for me getting so many undergeared Destro 'locks in my guild. That go on boasting about how good they are cause they are Destro with 20 +Hit and 800 +Spell Dam. If it is your fault, please quit spreading the lies.

Go Affliction.
I pinched the below stuff from a site somewhere ages ago and I don't remember where, so props to the creator of this tree because it isn't me. I have followed it pretty closely and it works great, very little down time and DoT heaven. If I can find where I got it from I will post a link.

Lv 10-14 5/5 imp Corruption. Another Insta Dot! Awesomeness

Lv 15-16 2/2 imp Life Tap. More mana for the life tapped. You want this

Lv 17-19 1/2 imp Drain Soul and 2/2 Soul Siphon Mana and more life returned. It rocks!

Lv 20-24 2/2 Imp Curse of Agony and 3/5 Fel Concentration. More damage, less chance to get interrupted when channelling spells, thus more life returned and even more damage done. Circle of l33tness!

Lv 25-28 2/2 Grim Reach and 2/2 Nightfall. Kill from further away and proc insta nukes! Nerf us!

Lv 29-30 4/5 Fel Concentration and 1/1 Siphon life More damage, More life returned. Warlocks are unkillable!

Lv 31-34 Fill up the gaps to 2/2 imp Drain Soul, 5/5 Fel Concentration get 1/1 Amplify Curse and make up your mind if you rather want 1/5 Shadowembrace or 1/1 Curse of Exhaution

Lv 36-39 5/5 Shadow Mastery. Can you say “More damage”?

Lv 40 1/1 Dark Pact. Never…ever…out…of…mana (with imp phaseshifted)

Lv 41-45 5/5 Imp Shadowbolt. This talent has a tooltip that sounds very confusing at first, but basically means this: You crit with shadowbolt and your shadowdamage is increased by 20% for 12 seconds until 4 more no-DoT damage sources are applied. An awesome talent and it beats Cataclysm hands down.

Lv 46-50 5/5 Bane. Faster shadowbolt, YAY!

Lv 51 1/1 Shadowburn. Took me long to master and use it, but it is awesome. An Insta nuke, uses a soulshard, but if the target dies within 5 seconds of shadowburn, the shard is returned.

Lv 52-56 5/5 Devastation 5% more crit. Get this.

Lv 57-60 2/2 Intensity and 2/2 Destro reach. Kill without interruption and from further away. Good.
