And I'm Orc, so I get the +5% pet bonus.
What the hell is your question?
-Whats the best pet?

As for the best pet:
*Cat and Ravager are nice DPS for raids and instances.
*Boar is a great tank pet
*Birds and bats are great AOE threat and grinding pets
*Scorpids are good for arena
*Windserpents and Snakes have a ranged attack
*Any pet will work, play what you like*
Now for Survival spec:
*Yes, SV is a VERY fun and challenging spec. Your DPS WILL NOT BE AS HIGH AS BM/MM
*Tons of utility.
*Search the forums, there are several posts on the first 2 pages about SV.

I'm going Survial Spec. I've done the research and just love the challenge of it.
My actual question is what is the best pet for an orc surv spec?
I'm not that big of a pet fan, but realize that it is not only nessesary for a hunter, but to ignore it would just be foolish as it is one of the biggest assetts to the class.
I don't think I'm going to drop pts into BM at all, unless someone can teach me as to why that would be foolish, but a deep SV and tap into MM. So, what pet will serve me best? I've been to petopia and looked things over, and realize I get the 5%dps bonus for being orc, but I wanted to hear from players. Though Birds and Bats are looking good as I'm mostly using this charater to support my twink mage.

5% to every pet would make every pet equally better, in a 5% increase.
Wow... thinking you've been sipping the rum also my friend.
The 5% dps increase is because I'm Orc. In a pet that has +10%dps, +0% hp, +0% ar ... well you can see how it would effect it's stats. So do the math and find a pet? Yeah that's where I'm at. What would you suggest? A rare pet? A normal pet? A dodo bird or a puppy? :-)

I think this means you created your hunter to farm $$ for your mage's gear, so your hunter will just be leveling for a long time and you aren't looking to get into end-game content. With that in mind, BM will [b]much[b] better serve you, especially until you get to the last few tiers of the SV tree (where you obtain the rest of your CC abilites and get to dip into MM for a lot more dmg AND Scatter Shot).
If you still decide to roll SV, any of the pets will serve your purpose. some with AoE abilities grind multiple mobs easier, some have a little more hp & armor which makes "bad" situations a little easier, and some have @#%^ing awesome looking skins. Go back to Petopia and pick what you want to be at your side for a long time.
