Amplify Curse worth it?Follow

I'm about to pull my 39 lock out of low level pvp suckage and move him closer to 70. I'm planning on going affliction and I was wondering about this little talent and how useful it is. 20% is a questionable amount for curse of agony Is it worth getting for those longer fights or for that extra damage every few minutes?

Thanks in advance.

My warlock has it, but primarily because I wanted Curse of Exhaustion. I don't use amplify often, but sometimes it comes in handy for an extra miniburst.

I mostly use it for curse of doom and occasionally for exhaustion in PVP.

My pet atttack macro:

/Dismount
/Petattack
/Cast Amplify Curse

If you are already dismounted, the first command is ignored.
If your Amplify is on cooldown, then the last command is ignored.

In any case, Since I absolutely am going to cast a curse in combat, Amp Curse is up as often as it can be. When I am using my Imp, I remove Petattack from the macro, but still use the same button (ain't muscle memory great?)

Very informative, I will go ahead and include it in my build. That macro idea is great mike, but I may tweak it a bit for my needs, like maybe some error hiding when I spam it ;)

Also, I would like to ask another question. Is the Ebon Shadowbag worth obtaining if I have the resources? I mean 12 primals (6 Shadowcloth, 2 primals each) aren't that hard to come by, and neither is gold on my 70.

1. Amp curse is nice to have for doom. I use it in my CoD macro. which includes activating a tricnket, the amp and then doom on a mob.

In a instance situation you may not use it much except on bosses, as mobs tend to go down too fast to make CoA worthwile. It could however be used on the odd CoE situation but not too likely.

2. The ebon bag is very nice as you move into a 10/25 man situation where multiple shards are going to be used over time. Grabing shards as you fight hurts dps and is just annoying to worry about. having 8 more slots avaliable from the bag makes this situation easier imo.

It's actually a 50% increase for Doom and CoA, 20% for CoE.

It's also sometimes useful in PvP, when you want to kite someone or other, but 30% slowing just don't cut it.

Shadowcloth isn't hard to come by?!?!

I'm saving up for my Girdle of Ruination (no idea where I'm gonna get a Primal Nether from yet though - need my badges for an off-hand - it IS badges, right?) and the FOUR DAY cooldown is a *****.

I COULD just buy it...but that much gold for another 8 slots on the bag? Nah, not worth it in my opinion. I manage my shards quite well.

Could you do
/Petattack [nopet:imp]
to avoid having to edit the macro? (I'm not sure if you can
use conditionals with petattack)

Maybe also
/dismount [noflying]
just to make sure...

Aboulutely. It's only 1 talent point, and as someone else said Curse of Exhaustion is an outstanding spell. I'm a bit of a pvp nut. Best example of Amplify curses' value-warrior grabs flag in WSG. Amplify Curse, CoE, then point and laugh at the warrior while you dot/fear him long enough for the rest of your team to show up.

I probably could, but since I seldom use my imp, it's fairly easy to just modify the macro for the few times... I'll try it.

I never send my pet to attack while flying, because he isn't there until I dismount.

just have a macro for dismounting so when you desire to dismount while flying, you can (obviously while close to the ground). mine's bound to alt-D

/cast [flyable] Swift Purple Gryphon
/cast [noflyable] Summon Dreadsteed

When in Outlands, this macro works as a toggle - summons the epic mount if I'm dismounted, dismounts me if I'm mounted. When in Azeroth, it summons the dreadsteed.

Instead, can't you just put something in the lines of this

~Personally I use~
#showtooltip Curse of Agony
/cast Amplify Curse
/cast Curse of Agony

Instead of casting amp curse when it is up with your pet attack, stick the casting Amp Curse with the actual curse of agony.
Now if you needed it for CoE instead, you probably could have both like

#showtooltip Curse of Exhaustion
/cast Amplify Curse
/cast Curse of Exhaustion
(I haven't used this so I'm not sure what the effect would be)

... amd a third one for Doom?

#showtooltip Curse of Doom
/cast Amplify Curse
/cast Curse of Doom

Putting it into a single macro works better for me than macroing it multiple times.

I just have it on a keybind when I'm affliction or sl/sl.. rather pick when to use it, to be honest. It doesn't use the GCD so it only takes a split second to use. I dunno, I'm just trying to cut back on the macros at the moment.

And timing an amped-exaustion on a rogue/warrior after they've popped all the ********** you, clothie" cooldowns is amazing.
