Just wondering if you guys use a different spell sequence in an instance than what you do while questing. I have noticed that if I go through the same kinda sequence I am lucky to get half way coz the mob is dead pretty quick when I am in an instance.

I am lvl 49 atm and Affliction spec so it kinda goes: a few Dot's, SB and drain with life tap in there somewhere. In an instance I am almost dropping the Dot's for the SB and drain.

From what I've heard, DoTs aren't worth it on trash because it doesn't live long enough to matter. This might be different with a tank who can hold aggro on multiple mobs, because you can DoT them all up and let it tick for some good damage. Aside from that it's SB spam and life tap from what I hear (and dear god don't use voidwalker).

Disclaimer: I'm not a warlock. I just eavesdrop on their forums. I can be 100% wrong.

Actually you shouldn´t worry too much about spellsequences, just yet.
If the mobs dies at a decent pace and you rarely have downtimes, than
you are definitly doing something right.

For instances, as bismark wrote, often mobs go down really really quick,
so stick to spamming sbolts if they are going down too fast for you DoTs
to tick through.

It really depends, if the mob is going to drop in less then 30 seconds I would put up corruption for the Shadow Trance then just SB spam.

If the mob is going to last longer then 30 seconds then throw up a Corruption and CoA.

If the mob is going to last a few minutes might as well go through your entire rotation then SB.

Sometimes I can't even SB so i just throw out a quick searing pain just be careful because searing pain will almost defiantly pull aggro so just use it in situations where the enemy is going to drop super quick.

I like that advice. I will try that tonight when I run some instances.

I'm a demo lock. When running solo, I send my felguard in, cast my dots and either wand or sb.

When in an instant, I may change what I do, depending on the group I'm with. What I cast stays pretty much the same, but I don't cast sb often or other high mana required spells. I mostly use my summon, wand and dots. No sb, unless vs a boss.

Also, when we start fighting some mobs, I put dots on the mobs nobody has targeted yet and send my summon after them. If our healer is ever targeted, I aim for that mob, even if others are fighting it.
