So i recently hit 70, and re spec'ed Holy, bought all new gear, and some pvp items

I want to start doing heroics and kara, and then beyond.

Right now my healing is bonus is only 777...So should I grind more pvp and get decked out in pvp? Or should I grind Rep? I think grinding pvp would be faster, and then with pvp gear start healing heroics and kara. Is this possible? Or should I stop grinding pvp and go farm some rep?

Heres what Im wearing:

Also Ive been checking the AH for better upgrades but really havent found much except cloth pieces. =/

If you can pull 5-6k honor a day then yeah, go pvp and get s1 epics. They aren't all that **** hot for PvE but they are good enough to get you started and in some places better than what you will see in Kara.

If not run for blues in 5 mans and enchant your stuff to get past 1000+ healing.

Took me 1-1.5 weeks to get blues and get kara ready.

Here is what needs to be upgraded.

1. Pick up The Breastplate of Many Graces from Shadow Labs. It will serve you well until you pick up the chest plate from Illhoof.

2. Replace the Libram for the Blessed Book of Nagrand which can be picked up from a Nesingwary's Camp Quest Chain in Nagrand. The Libram out of Botanica is also acceptable.

3. Replace the Belt with the one off the 2nd Boss in Heroic Slave Pens.

4. The trinkets are just plain awful. Start doing Heroics and try to at least pick up an Essence of the Martyr. Xiri's Gift will replace one of them if you are revered with the Sha'Tar

5. Accumulate Sha'Tar Rep and pick up the Mace you get at Exalted. Its much better than the Essence Focuser.

6. Cassock of the Loyal off the 1st Boss in Heroic Underbog are also much better than what you currently have.

7. The Healing Ring from the dreaded Fire Lady in Mechanar will replace one of your ring slots.

8. Neckpiece and Backpiece look fine for the time being but should be replaced with the Necklace of Eternal Hope and Bishop's Cloak which can be bought with Badges.

Start running those instances and gaining that rep. You should be prepared for Kara rather quickly. Remember that this is no longer PvP and you should always try to find something that boosts your stats more than worrying about it being plate.

Well first, don't list items in Wowhead, Allakhazam is an item database, use those links so we can mouseover and see them.

Second, don't include things from Naxx, as I seriously doubt he is going to be running that any time soon if ever. The Blessed Book of Nagrand is almost as good as that libram and is much much easier to get. Get it from the quest "The Ultimate Bloodsport" in Nagrand if you don't already have it.

Check out Dil's sticky for a huge list of gear suggestions.

No, it's not possible. That's part of the reason for punkspider's comment: if you had stayed ret, you'd probably be DPSing 5-mans competently and would be able to accumulate some off-spec gear over time.

The Vindicator Ornamented Boots, Belt, and Bracers and the Neck/Rings of Salvation will be nice complements to your raiding gear. It will be a while before you get serious upgrades to these. The important part for you right now is that they don't require BoJ or faction rep.

If you opt to grind for the S1 gear, you should treat these pieces as placeholders for "real" raid gear, which will include cloth, leather, and mail with better stats. The S1 pieces will boost your +heal and your crit, but leave you fairly gimped for mp5. On the bright side, if you're decked out in S1 at a minimum, you're going to have an easier time healing non-heroic SLab, SV, and Shattered Halls while aiming for that "real" pre-Kara gear.

My guild would take a new holy pally in the gear I've just described because we put a ridiculously low priority on mp5. I almost always have a shadow priest and boomkin in my group, so mana regen is never a problem, and after last weekend's big ZG extravaganze, we now slobber free brilliant mana oil over everyone. Talk with your guildies to see what they expect from you.

Good luck.

Instead of the Belt from Heroic Slave Pens, just pick up Girdle of Divine Blessing from the AH, way faster and almost or just as good.

To the OP - it doesn't matter if you grind rep or PvP. Get gear that will give you roughly the following stats:

Heroics: +1300 Healing, as much crit as possible.

Kara (off heal): +1200 healing, 15% Crit, 60 MP5
Kara (main heal): +1500 healing, 18% crit, 70 MP5

These stats are not super defined, so you can go higher on some, and lower on others. Those are just approximations. With the proper consumables (and tank), you will be just fine.

NOTE: Heroics are very "burst-intensive". If your tank isn't very well geared, then you will be casting a lot of Holy Lights. Keep that in mind. Also, keep BoP hotkeyed. Squishies will get 1-2 shotted faster than you can cast.

Finally, you can find a nice balance of PvP and PvE gear. You don't have to focus on only the items listed in Dil's sticky. Those are great, but there are plenty others out there. For example - don't kill yourself trying to get the Breastplate on Many Graces. I've seen people who ran SLab 25x to try and get it. A phenomenal waste of time. If you get it in a few runs - great. 25 runs - you're obsessed. There are plenty of other good chest pieces.

EDIT - If you have any questions as to what gear to look for - try using the "item search" function. It'll tell you what options you have, and where to get them. And don't limit yourself to plate armor. There are plenty good mail, leather, and cloth pieces that you can use to get started. In the end, you will end up fully decked in plate. But to get there, you may need some alternatives.

My suggestion is:

1. Run any and all of the level 70 instances. Grab any gear that improves your +healing (and/or other healing-related stats) whether it's plate or not. Shoot for getting gear up to at least level 70 dungeon blue quality. That alone should increase your +healing quite a bit.

2. Run BGs to accumulate honor. There are definitely some decent, relatively cheap, epics to be had from honor rewards. Prioritize according to your needs. The one thing to really watch out for, in my opinion, is the trade off of resiliance vs. MP5. Some of the PvP gear has no MP5. If you want to raid, I wouldn't spend honor on things that are sub-par for PvE.

3. Check out some of the quest and rep items others mentioned. As you run more of the level 70 dungeons, you'll accumulate the rep needed.

3. Enchants. Get some enchants on your better gear. Don't bother with the greens, but on your blues and purples, get them enchanted. You can boost your spell crit quite a bit just from the Intellect enchants on weapon and shield along. Also, get your shoulder enchant from Aldor/Scryer.

Personally, with your current stats, I would avoid heroics for now. In my opinion, you're nowhere near geared enough for even the easiest of heroics. Unless you're running with a hugely overgeared tank and dps that will down things quickly, you will not have good luck with heroics yet. So, while some of the posters are suggesting heroics, I'd say hold off until your +healing and other stats are quite a bit higher.

Good luck.
