so i logged on the other day and decided id try out MgT. i havent played in a few months so i was sticking to the 5-mans i knew, and i found some hunter who invited me to his group. i told him i was a 2H dps warr and he laughed at me, saying my gear must be horrible because my HP was at 9800. i got into an arguement with him about how if i was to off tank my gear would put well around 12k, but he just wasnt having it. i got to thinking, am i being stupid and not realizing my health might be too low? heres a link to my armory http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Mannoroth&n=glostaf/. am i not a good viable 2H dps? i know im no kara level but i felt confident i was at least decent at what i do.

you're fine to offtank. if anything, your tank should always assign dps to burn down a caster mob first with you "offtanking" it, since warriors can mitigate physical damage but not magical damage. when i do heroic mgt or any other heroic, that's what i always do and then build up a lot of threat on the second/third/fourth kill targets, so by the time dps gets done burning skull they can go all out on X immediately afterwards.

9800 hp is not bad for a non-raider, imho. I used to have less than that before I started kara and some pvp. 12k hp is pretty good for an off-tank. I remember having that much when I first went into kara.

This is me now.

I still have only about 10k hp in dps gear lol.

Who the hell cares how much health you have in DPS gear? More health means more of your items have stamina which means you don't have as much AP/crit/haste/ArP as you could have. Health is a horrible, HORRIBLE judge of how good gear is for DPS.

my thoughts exactly ls, i havent played in a few months so i was getting a little worried but as long as he was the stupid one and not me. thank you all for your responses.

Agreed on health not mattering; I think I only have about a thousand more HP than you do in my DPS gear, and I've tanked very nearly the entirety of HMT in it (spell damage means DPS gear is good!)

Honestly who cares what HP you got lol. My dps set includes leather items (head, ZA money belt, ...something else too). I think you just ran by a jerk Hunter. Now, without being offending, your gear could use work for MrT. Even in all epic from KZ and BGs.... that place is still a PITA. If you got there and the leader inspected your gear, since no epics he might have dropped you.

Also, you did not mention... but do you have a 1h and sheild for OT'ing? I'm not sure if it's common practice for a OT to use a 2h weapon, since I've only OT KZ/ZA/Gruul... all of which you need a tanking set.

Reroll Tauren, i have 13.5k health in fury :O. Kara/gruul drops, with some PvP gear for the critz.

Only fights that health should matter that much, you probably won't be doing. So any health around 10k is perfect ^^

13.5k as Fury Spec? A little excessive eh? Not sure what your toon has for gear but some itemization comes to mind. Care to share armory link?

DPS gear is not to have a lot of HP.
Still lately I tend to DPS in PvP gear in heroic PuGs or semi PuGs.
It is nice to ba able to be able to take a few hits after stealing aggro.

Err? Making your life easier on expence of poor DPS/OT?
DPS warrior will not be able to OT target that is to be "burnt down" by any semi decent DPS. He will loose aggro if he uses tank set. He might have a chance if he uses DPS or even better PvP gear but he needs a very good gear to survive dps tanking in heroic instance.
On the other hand you as protection warrior can do it easily.
So the right order should be skull goes to MT cross goes to OT and all additionaly tanked targets to MT.

ha reroll tauren? i am a tauren. and yes, i have gromtors charge and the aegis of the sunbird.

i logged out in my prot gear if you all want to take a look at the armory again (if it updated). i had to socket some of my items for dps stats when i stopped tanking and started going for dps gear in my tanking gear :| but i havent had to tank since then so no real hurry to resocket.

after walking into mgt i realized that it was pretty damn hard anyways, so while im sticking to those low heroics for now i may just start pvping a lot as well. its hard enough as it is trying to find groups to take me, especially with a shammy (that WF helps my dps output a TON), so i figure taking my spare time to upgrade through pvp gear works just as well.
