So, one day i go to my friends house and he plays wow, ive always wanted to play but, unfortunately, rl events keep me from doing so. He let me start a char and mess around, i made a priest (which is why im posting here), and leveled a little, mostly just messing around. Well him and other family members of his play so he has more than one account, when he saw me playing priest he had me jump onto one of his other characters and help him and a group out with healing.I dont know where we went to, i honestly couldnt tell you, cause i was warped there, but the group was like 2 rogues and 2 priests, anyways i kinda didnt want to play cause i didnt know what i was doing, and he told me just focus on healing. Ok i had the healing stuff lined up in hotkeys, but when we started playing i noticed a big difference between me and the other priest, and i got yelled at a bit. I really did try but, i just couldnt hack it lol. I just want to say that yall have a tough job keeping everyone alive... it was hard as crap. Maby ill start an account myself one day, but that experience kinda makes me not want to, it was kinda hard, ive played other mmo's before as a healer and i do like it, but maby since i got thrown into a higher level character i couldnt do it right. Or at least thats what i keep telling myself to make me feel better, but yea to all you priesteses i hope you continue doing what you do best, and i hope you dont get yelled at too much.

Exactly. No matter what the class, there is a learning curve. It comes naturally as you level.

With healers in a group, it is an especially bad idea to jump in untrained and unprepared. As you reach higher levels, healers are expected to know how to play their class, and it is vital to the survival of the group.

It's really understandable if the other players were dieing unnecessarily, that they would complain to you. The easy way to avoid it is to level your own priest, learn by doing, and become a good healer. Good healers are in high demand, get plenty of appreciation, and are very enjoyable to play.

Exactly what dadanox said. You were thrown into a higher level toon and you didn't know what you were doing. I mean, just because the spells show what each do, doesn't mean you know how or when to use them.

Don't let it discourage you from thinking about joining. It'll be hard at first, but soon it'll be smoothe sailing. You'll start getting a hang of things and then you can show those other people in the group that you CAN do well healing (or tanking, dpsing... depending on if you plan to stay with a priest).

I hate playing someone else's characters. Even if it is the same level and class as one of my own. They set their bars and hot-keys up in unfamiliar ways. They have completely different talents and often spells/abilities that I have no experience with. For some reason they thought THAT hairstyle looked good when they first rolled!! It's like driving a rental car...you know how it works but it just feels wrong.

I have one of each class ranging from level 45-70. Yet when I jump onto one of my brothers characters I must look like a complete noob to anyone around me...and I have experience with the game. I'm amazed that you were able to heal at all under the circumstances you described. If you decide to pick up the WOW "crack-pipe" I'm sure you will get the hang of it in no time.

Here is the ultimate truth with regards to healers... we are never the ones that are called out for the reason of a successful group, but we are the first to be blamed for its failure.

Do not get me wrong, I get plenty of great healing calls while playing, but when I cast one healing spell and 2 mobs jump me, it will almost always be MY fault, and has nothing to do with the potential ineptitude of the tank or off tanks. With that being said, I have also recently had the pleasure of playing with some great hunters... I took a 4 month hiatus from WoW and always had little respect for Hunters in instance runs, but we did a Shattered Halls Run with 2 hunters, myself (undergeared Holy/Disc Priest as I just switched to Holy), Druid Tank, and Paladin. The hunters were able to effectively off tank with their pets, CC as needed, and pull mobs from my healing. It was an extremely difficult job for me to keep the tank up and the Paladin had to at times help since I am about 600+ healing too low, but the hunters made it doable.

So what I am trying to say, based on what you said, 2 rogues and 2 priests is a less than ideal situation to be in for many groups. You have no one that can just sit their and grab aggro and take damage, as Rogues go down almost as fast as a priest when they are getting hit.

Trust us when we tell you that you will love WoW when you breakdown to buy it. It is more than worthwhile and quite a bit of fun. Plus, there are other classes out their that are great for healing and surviving, namely druids and paladins.
