Lol jk, I'm not stupid enough to start 1 of those threads but my question does involve pets

I'm gonna get a gorilla for PVE so when i run ppl through instances he can hold the threat of multiple mobs, then i'm gonna get a cat and teach it bite, claw, prowl, and dash for strict PVP purposes. Which leaves me down to my final pet I have a wolf i enjoy furious howl and how when he charges into group in AV he buffs every1 with a little extra damage but i don't know how significant it is? Is there any pet thats really good for helping out groups?

not really. The wolf was good at 60 but didn't scale to 70 content. For raiding cats and ravagers are best until you're sitting at 35-40% crit fully raid buffed at which point a windserpent is better due to procs of GftT. Are you at 70? Do you have all your pet skills? you need an empty slot so that you can tame pets to learn new skills.

Windserpents become better when crit is at +35%? can anyone give me some numbers on this to show why this is the case? my crit bm spec raid buffed is currently 42%ish, so if i can get more bang with a serpent id do it.

they become better at some point but its not 40% crit raidbuffed.
My guess is that you need to be closer to 50% raidbuffed for a WS to be better.

yeah but lightning breath really doesn't do much to help out a party? well pulling but most parties i'm in i can pull myself or the tank does the pulling

The reason is that GftT gives you 50 focus (or one lb) everytime you crit. This becomes a better focus dump then gore or claw and so will let your windserpent out damage your ravager.

Why do you say it's not 40% crit? I think my numbers come either from tkasomething or ej (likely both as they talk to each other) I was doing research one day. I don't have any numbers on me, but I'm curious as to why you would just throw that out?

Honestly the pets that will buff the party are not worth it. You're better off just getting a damage pet. If you're not raiding it doesn't really matter so get whatever you think looks best.

because my WS did considerably less dps then my cat when i was SV with 40% crit raidbuffed.
It was a difference of ~30 dps.

Hmm, it could very well be that this only applies to BM hunters. We'll a) do more damage with the LB (although everything else should scale too) but more importantly we'll get a lot more crits as we fire so many more shots, and so would proc GftT a lot more. we also have bestial discipline which means we have a lot more focus then a non BM hunter.

The difference between BM and SV is that lightning breath will scale faster than white damage with SV. BM wont always be firing more shots, a 1:1 rotation on a 2.0 attack speed is the same as a 1:1.5 rotation on a 2.5 attack speed. SV will actually get more crits that way. Thus, with SV, LB will scale more with gear.

I don't have the math for exactly when this will happen (mainly because I dont know the coefficient for LB from AP) but I'm guessing 43-50% crit is probably where it will happen.
