Okay, the topic is misleading, because I'm not about to divulge any details about my personal life. However, a couple of minutes ago I took my Druid into Blood Furnace on his first ever Heroic run.
Note: I respec'd Feral to do the SSO dailies, so this is not a tale about my überly crap geared Restokin.
Anyway, I was roaming about on Quel'Danas, getting my *** handed to me by gank squads (it's a fad on my server) and daydreaming about epics and whatnot, when suddenly a Mage whispers me if I want to go to Heroic Blood Furnace. At first I was like "Uhm, no thanks. I don't think I'm ready to tank anything heroic yet," but then I remembered that I'd done the instance earlier on normal mode and all the bosses seemed to be straight-forward tank & spank encounters, plus I had some experience with the instance as I'd healed it earlier.
So I accepted the invite and soon found myself in Blood Furnace with:
Fire Mage
Destruction Warlock
Shadow Priest
Restoration Shaman
All decked in epics.
I'm telling you, the damage they dished out, along with the excellent healing from the Shaman, it was my dream of an initiation run. I accidentally pulled adds a couple of times and thought we'd wipe for sure, but through the use of AoE fear, banish, polymorph and me using Feral Charge, Bash and Growl like it would save my life, we never wiped. Not once.
Usually I'm "pugging" normal instances and you meet a lot of fresh level 70's there. People aren't really sure how to perform in a group and are used to soloing quests, etc., so they make mistakes, like I did. It felt nice being in a group where everyone seemed to be 100% aware of their capabilities, limits and roles. It felt.. organized.
Long story short (orly?), I'm now the proud owner of an additional three Badge of Justice which will add nicely to the small pool I've already accumulated through SSO drops, plus the Wastewalker Tunic.
This was definitely the best imaginable way to have my "heroic cherry" popped and has given me a lot of selfworth, because I realized I was capable of tanking pretty well, even in a group where the DPS pulled aggro over 20x Lacerate, Faerie Fire and Demoralizing Roar.
Best PuG run I've done in months. Hell, years.
