Fade in a BG? Possible?Follow

I was under the impression that Fade was pretty much useless in PvP, but yesterday in AB I accidentally hit it instead of PS and the hunter's pet that was attacking me went on to someone else. I tried it again later to see if I was dreaming and it seemded to work...unless they just decided to send their pet to someone else at that time...

Is this normal/intentional? Or should I worry about it being "fixed"?

I am not 100% sure, but it may work with pets, as they might be considered player controlled NPCs. You may want to check in the Hunter FAQs/forum to see if they discuss pets and aggro reduction moves.

I think it worked because the Hunter's pet was on agressive stance which means it will attack the closest enemy. Fade probably lowered your threat compared to another player close to you.

It would be interesting to see if Fade works the same way when the hunter sends his or her pet to attack you.

If it does, it might also benefit Rogues, as right now Vanish is broken when it comes to pets. If they could Feint then vanish, it might fix things.

It works allright. I often "steal" aggro from players who are getting healed by me. I press fade a microsec before the pet reaches me, which makes it run back to the other teammate. While the pet is running, it does no damage, so it's really convenient in PvP.

If the pet was sent directly to me, fade would have little use, except if a fellow player hits the pet after it has engaged combat with me.

Fade's quite useful for solo flag captures in AV. Send your Shadowfiend at one of the four NPC guards at the flag, and run towards the flag. Hit Fade, then Psychic Scream, then start flag capping. The guards will be too busy running around and chasing your pet to worry about you until it's too late. Without the Fade, three of them would target you instead of it. Without the Scream, they might kill your pet before you grab the flag. With all three, it's neat as pie.

Pets on Aggressive or Defensive follow regular aggro rules. If they're sent to attack you, Fade shouldn't do anything. Likewise with stealth - it's working as intended that stealth doesn't stop a pet attacking a player that it's already in route to (though it going through Vanish is bugged, though Blizzard hasn't fixed it in 3.5 years now, sooo...).

Thanks guys for all the helpful replies! That makes me happy that I have a pretty easy out from hunter pets (when they're set on aggressive, at least). Sweet!

Or you could just kill them.... those NPCs are so weak, relatively speaking, that you can (and I have) Holy Nova(ed) them to death...

But if you're killing them, you're not capping the flag. I can't tell you the number of times I've lost and won games either capped a tenth of a second before I was hit or being hit a tenth of second before I capped; spending 20 seconds on killing them is just asking for some straggler or one-man hero to stop you from capping.
