Ok, yesterday I finally got my second T5 so since I already had the Void Star Talisman, I think I got all the gear I need for the Felguard raiding... now the skill is another thing, but I hope to get that with time.

I have been reading some previous posts about this subject (here and here as well as the great guide at the Den. Most of the people who have tried this have stated that they used the 6/44/11 build, but here Banatu suggested a raid min/maxed 1/43/17 build....

I will get enough frowns from my raid mates when they see me using the felguard (hopefully this will change when they see the dps I hope to deliver) so I was thinking to use the best raiding build... but I remember that it was mentioned here that the benefits of 5% crit + range + 10% reduced agro do not compensate the loss of insta-corruption and imp life tap.

I must admitt I'm a bit confused here and would welcome advice on which build to use for raiding.

What you must understand and learn, that this is a micromanaged build.
Every GCD counts, every time you move use it for an instant if you can.

As i see it and played it more than enough, you will not need the extended range in any encounter but Azgalor. The aggroreduce is good, but not really needed, since both you and the felguard have a seperate aggro-list.
The 5% crit are really nice to have, but this build is not designed around crits, but around very steady and high dmg.

Instant Corruption is often better.
On lots of encounters you have to move, this will save you more than often a GCD during and encounters.

Improved Life Tab scales exceptionally well with Demonic Knowledge.
When i was demo-specced my Life Tab gave me 2,1k mana compared to other locks who got about 1,5k mana.
You do the math you many GCDs you could save during an encounter.

Also i think that maxing out demonic resilience is very importantk, because it is of utmost importance that you Felguard survives.

As you can see i am a big fanboy of 6/44/11, but my advice would be to test it out for yourself, if you feel more comfortable with the extended range got for 1/43/17.

Thanks a lot for that very clear explanation. However, if GCD is so imortant on this build, shouldn't be the point in shadowburn better be used to top improved life tap?

Looking forward to test it ;D

@ Oakenwrath: Mal sehen ob es auch so klappt, die anderen Hexer in meiner raid hatten nicht eine besonders gute Meinung von diesem Build (aber keiner hat es probiert, wir waren bisher immer alle affliction)

Shadowburn is a lifesaver/extra utility and our only instantdmg-spell I personally would not want to miss.
I used it on stray adds while fighting lady vashj and in MH it sometimes happen that you gain aggro within the last few seconds the mob has left to live...i think it it´s well worth the point.

@Iradiel:

I keep this in english so everyone will understand.
Basically what iradiel wrote was that the other lock in his raid weren´t
fond of the demo-specc, but have never tried it.

The day i changed to this specc everyone was like "wtf? you are not going to do dmg at all" at the end of that day doing SSC everyone was like "wtf? how did you manage to top dmg meters on every bosskill?"

Than i left my old guild an transferred servers. The new guild was lile "wtf? demo-specc? Well you have to tank leotheras anyways so you can just stay the way you are specced for now" So at the end after we killed lady vashj and i was on top of the dmg meter and it was anounced on teamspeak it went suddenly really quiet^^

here is a screenshot of that lady vashj kill in my new guild you have to look through the little window and you will see that i did 170k more dmg than the guy on #2 on recount:

uh for the record penelope is a classic destro lock - not a demonology lock and a well geared one @ that - gratz - it is no surprise to anyone thats run with a 0/21/40 destro lock that she was #1 on the damagemeters - she probably crits sb for around 7k. - lmao

I see you're new here. Oakenwrath respecced to 0/21/40 around the time he'd been raiding MH/BT for quite some time. He's released videos of him fighting bosses in SSC (I forget which) as Felguard spec.

Also, stop overusing dashes, that's a horrific run-on sentence.

EDIT: I've dug up the post HERE and he was into MH/BT before respeccing D-Sac/Destro.

Thanks alot ecirphsoj,
even in that picture i posted you could see my pet being the felguard...
that is kinda hard being specced 0/21/40, huh?

Feel free to watch my videos with Felguardspecc from both t5 and t6 content.
My shadowbolts indeed hit for 7k, usually raidbuffed and on a fully debuffed raid-boss they hit well over 8k closer to 9k these days.
Got really lucky with the Vestments of the Sea-Witch.
