im leveling my alt (rogue)and no lies, second time im trying to do ZF with 2 pallies in our group(different guys each times)and we cant get no heals out of them.They think they are DPS...well guys if you don't see a priest in the group guess what? your it! get use to it because at the end game it will be you full time job. Tanking will be only if they can't find a Warrior and DPS is for rogue and hunters.They were all proud to rez us...big deal. BTW when people suggest you to heal, we are just trying to reminded you your class . Next time you look at ALL the healing and buffing abilities you have that should give you a hint of what your job should be. "NO one should die" that's your job.
Seems to me that the rest of you were dolts for not sorting out who was healing/making sure you had a healer before the run started.

In a most recent run of SM with my Enh spec shaman(even in my lfg notes I stated DPS) I ended up in a group with prot paladin, hunter, warlock and mage. I could feel all eyes turn on me since the paladin was needed to tank. Problem is people tend to just invite anyone to fill out the slots with no regard to the role they need filling. Or they invite ANY class with a blue mana bar and expect them to heal.
To put it bluntly - ASK before inviting if they can heal AND are willing to heal so this won't happen. Nothing worse than been invited to a group(in my case am usually LIED to) and then told to heal. Not only is it disrespectful its utter selfishness on your part. If asked to heal I will, it gives me time to collect my healing gear which I keep posted to me(saves space). I'd say more but that kind of thinking makes my blood boil.

I'm not sure that people read those notes...i always put resto and my + healing in the notes and get 2-3 whispers asking what spec I am.

After reading this all i can say is WOW! You have to be one of most misinformed posters i have ever seen, Thinking that a pally is only good for healing is so far off the path. Pally DPS pre 60 is a viaible build, and thinking that a pally tank is only used if you cant find something "better" tells me that you have probaly never seen much content past ZF/ST. To address your issues that you incountered,
1. Define roles withing the group your running with, if this was a guild run odds are your guild isn't gonna make it very far if you cant organize a simple ZF run.
2. If you have a ret pally in group he should realize that he is utility as well as DPS. ie Buffs, Heals
3. Assuming that DPS is for rogues and Hunters only, dont be suprised when you get to 70, and you get your *** handed to you on the DPS charts by every Mage and warlock in the group, because you thought they were only for CC, and wasted all your time making stupid statements and not learning your class!

Pally tanks rock when your goto spell is chain heal.
