Well back in WC3 the dread lord and Arthas had some neat auras that could be incorporated into wow for tanking purposes.

The dread lords vamp aura, perhaps the DK can turn this one on in order to regain life while getting hit by mobs. Blizz could also put in some threat gainer along with hp regen or something.

Arthas's unholy aura gives movement speed and crazy hp regen. Another way to help a DK while being a tank.

I havent read much so im speculating but if blizz wants the dk to be a 2handed tank, but the DK can also dual weild, i assume that 2-handed talents will be throughout the tank tree to increase avoidance and threat %'s

If the DK can really tank while doing decent dps, it could be the end for the current tanks in new 5 man content at least.

Maybe some dispellable buff that acts as a shield, either on a timer or with charges.

Something along the lines of a priest's Inner Fire, using a rune to activate, and giving a bonus similar to carrying a shield? That's a thought.

No clue why, but my bets are on

- some kind of etheral, gassy form which increases the miss chance when tanking.
- less armor than a shield-wearing tank and less armor than a druid, thus more incoming damage on the hits that DO land (even big hits)
- and finally some talents that nullifies the possibility of getting a few big hits in a row against you... (something like cheat death, for example "rise from death", "sacrifice leg" or whatsoever; hey come on! It IS a deathknight, right? It should have SOMETHING to do with necromancy/undead or whatever stuff!)

Oh well, back to daydreaming....

Edit: here is another one. It might be so that the damage isnt mitigated (which I still think won't happen, that's why) but the damage is spread amongst "blood brothers" in the party through an unholy channeling of some sort.

No wait wait... the weapon of a Death Knight is rumored to be it's "special" thing, which grows with the Death Knight. So it should have something to do with THAT!

Yeah whatever, let's just wait it out...

Since it seems like what a lot of people are worried about is how they will be balanced for PvE and PvP...instead of having 60% dodge and having melee classes commit suicide in PvP, Blizz could do something along the lines of having some of the talents in the tanking tree only working on MOBS and not players. Just a thought though.

Edit: Grammar

Or maybe it could be something as simple as an ability that makes you immune to crushing blows for X seconds.

I believe Blizzard will make Death Knight 'Parry' tanks, simply because they've made Feral Druids 'Dodge' tanks. With dual wielding swords, I think Parrying will become a huge part of the Death Knight's tanking role.

Id expect to see any damage-reduction to be so high in the tree that it eliminates the damage-dealing abilities of the other trees.

But you also have to remember that starting at L50, the DK will have 41 talent points (out of 61) to distribute.

Dual Wield is for the DPS, the tanks are meant to have 2-handers.

Keep in mind that all of the current druid tanking staffs have extra stats such as armor on them. I wouldn't be surprised if Blizz tried the same idea on "tanking" swords.

I doubt a Death Knight with a big, heavy, two handed weapon is any good at dodging attacks, even with the blood rune of monkey :P Parrying attacks would be a way to avoid damage and inflict more damage at the same time, since parry reduces the delay between your swings...

Yet someone with big, heavy plate armor is better at dodging attacks than someone with cloth.

Maybe the DK will be able to drain tank such as locks do but with higher armors wouldnt that be sweet like an AoE Drain :} /hope /pray

Yeah, how would that work? They'd have the same suvivability as a prot warrior but also the DPS of an arms warrior with the same weapon?

But APPARENTLY warriors can Duel weild 2handers, it's in the patch too. So really there is no change? (except pallies and druids becoming worthless?)

i can't wait to try and tank with a deathknight. if memory serves right blizzard is trying to make them like a magic tank, especially with the few talents in frost, also a support via auras and a nice dpser. first thing im gonna do with my deathknight...2 things actually.
1. Death Coil a Warlock
2. Kill hogger.

Probably there are going to be talants for 2 Handers, maybe bonus to threat or parry, or maybe bonus to 2 hander speeds so thier 2 Handers can do a bit more in the DPS bit (unlikely but ya never know).

Personally I would like Blizzard to give us the option to start the Death Knight at 55 or at 1. Some of us don't mind the grind to level as others do, and IMO I feel its better as you learn that much more about the class.

After all its not like the DK will start with maxed secondary skills or professions (remember Blizzard hasn't said anything about this), so you might as well start at level 1 rather then buying a lot of junk off the AH or running around gathering low level mats.

I cant wait for the death knight, plate wearing two hand weilding spell casting and some summoning. I loved the Dark knight in FFXI i think it was called dark knight havent played in like a year so i forget.. but it was awesome. Hope it'll be a littile like that always good to see new things =).

I agree with flash to i rather start at level 1 =)
