Breaking into Heroic MechanarFollow

I'm looking for some suggestions on how to gear up for that place specifically as it solves 2 problems I'm having at the same time:

- A chance for an awesome tanking weapon
- Decent shield through badges OR Sha'tar reputation

Right now I'm sitting at 11744 health, 12949 armor, exactly 490 defense rating AND 123 resilience (which I know is overkill, but those stats were kinda there)

I'm right in the middle of the quest chain for Gromtor's Charge, with progress being rather slow as a prot gimp.

It has been too damn long since I tanked heroic Mech with my druid, and I have no idea if I would survive in there with my warrior as he is set up right now.

Have a look:

You would do just fine. I started heroic mech pretty much as you are now, statswise. However, replace some gems and enchants. +15 spirit on chest? get the +150 hp or +all stats enchant. Get +stam on boots. Replace +resi gems with +def one,or solid star of elune. Gear bonus is not that hot especially in your shoulders. Get a +12stam instead. get an aldor or scryer rep enchant on shoulders. And get +stam or +hp enchants where it is possible. Other than that you're good to go on heroic mech, just bring a good team=)

Edit: If you have threath issues, get +threat on gloves. I looked into your talents, and may I suggest to get Toughness. More armor = more survivability

Hehe, you should have taken a closer look at my char sheet. The +15 spirit on my chest are a relict from skilling up enchanting :)

And yes, I am worried about threat more than anything, and I am wondering if I shouldn't toss out some of the defense rating stuff in favor of some DPS gear. For example, I could probably farm up the mats for Fire/Blazeguard in less time than it would take me to complete the quest line for Gromtor's charge.

no, and yes.

gem/enchant for stam, 12 dodge on cloak, boar's speed on feet.

survivability>TPS. it doesn't matter how much TPS you can crank out if you can't stay alive. also, more mitigation/avoidance means your healer won't need to heal you as much = less healing threat.

however, fire/blazeguard is a good idea. also, if you've been doing your SSO dailies, you can get Inuuro's Blade and Dawnforged Defender at exalted. the sword has hit/expertise on it iirc, more dps than gromtor's charge, and the shield has stats comparable to nightbane's shield but has dodge/hit on it... i can't believe how good that shield is, especially for being a rep item.

I cbf doing SSO stuff man...uggh those quests kill me...but I was like that for the BEM dailies and skettis ones too til I got the hang of it. I still haven't been through all of Normal Mgt lol!

Questing as a prot warrior just plain sucks, even with trying things like DW, Devastate spam, and whatnot. If it wasn't for trying to get the axe, I wouldn't have started the quest chain now. Each time I'm facing a mob I hate myself for not going through this BEFORE I decided to tank a little again.

The SSO shield is not really an option compared to what I can get out of Mechanar.

  • With each run I'm increasing my chance to get Sun Eater to solve my sword problem.
  • I wouldn't mind having Vanquisher's Legplates either.
  • Each run gets me closer to exalted with Sha'tar and their shield.
  • Each run yields badges that would eventually allow to purchase Azure Shield.

  • Those SSO supply pouches occasionally contain badges too, but I don't think it's a very effective way to save up the 33 of them needed, and I would still be without a weapon.

    I'd suggest getting the

    -Devilshark cape from SV.

-KoT legs for the shear stamina bonus alone. Load that up with 3 Star of Elune, since the block is not as important as getting your HP up for the time being. Should last until t4? I went the badge pants route as my upgrade.

-Head enchant from KoT rep (dodge/def = win).

-Boomstick for a ranged weapon from Sethekk Halls (heroic?) some stam > no stam.

    -Shoulder enchant from scryer/aldor.

Your dodge/parry is a bit low, starting out in heroics... you'll need to avoid as much damage as possible. 30% total is what is recommeded, you're sitting at 26.82%.

HP might be a bit low, but with those KoT legs, that should boost you up.

Gems, as already said, Star of elune the heck out of the gear, unless there's a good red, yellow, blue combo with a good gem stat (+6 stam works): Red=Dodge, Blue=Star of elund, and yellow= Def+Stam), so you gain 8 dodge, and 6?defense, and 24 stam). Check my armory if you want the example lol, hard to explain.

    TALENTS!!!!
1st one that jumped out at me, if you want to tank heroics is:

-0/5 on Toughness??? The extra armor value really helps (strongly suggest it 5/5)

-Shield Focus, Since your Shield block should always be in CD, that helps thru out each fight. Suggest going 3/3.

-Focused rage. Lowers cost of all abilities, might want to grab that also.

***Imp Revenge? I HIGHLY suggest getting rid of that talent. I hated it, it stops the flow of rage almost after every shield block/revenge. Most bosses you can't stun anyway. Worthless IMO.

Oh, edit* I kept the Crystal Copesh? swd until I got my Suneater. There's also a mace in Ramps? Furn? One of those that drops of the 2nd boss. That's pretty nice too. Seven hells something.

Yeah, Devilshark Cape is on my list of things to get, but it appears to be just like Sonic Spear for my hunter or the Felsteel Helm pattern: Not happening for me. I'll probably hit exalted with all factions before I ever get to see one of those things again. I saw them drop when I tanked through those places with my druid...

I'll have to play with numbers I guess. 115 resilience means I only need another 2.5% or so covered by defense, so it's probably safe to move the points from Anticipation over to Toughness, although it's yet another hit my avoidance will be taking. Might just have to get over it for now.

I'm busily zapping motes for the Khorium Destroyer, so the ranged slot will soon be filled with something more appropriate :)
