Boomkin HelpFollow

#1 Apr 12 2008 at 5:32 AM Rating: Decent
I am sure I missed the Boomkin sections so please stop here if your just gonna flame.

I have a feral Kara/Heroic/Badge geared druid my guild is only doing one group of Kara right now and there is nothing for me to do so I speced Boomkin. I have seen very good list of DPS cat gear bear Tank gear and eve a section on Healing gear. Is there a list of good options for a Boomkin that can be crafted or aquired through Heroics of lvl 70 5mans?

Also are there some obvious cloth peices you should get instead of the leather ones?

Thanks for the help guys and gals.

Well, seeing as you are 375 LW,you could always specialize in tribal lw and craft The windhawk set..?

Definetely switch your leatherworking to tribal and make the Windhawk set. You won't lose any skill points or patterns (other than your elemental ones) and get a 3 piece set in return that you won't be replacing for a long time. Even better, they split the damage/healing stats on the set in a way that makes the set just as good for healing if you ever decide to try that spec as well. All you'd have to do is change gems.

If you got the time, farm up enough honor for 4 pieces of the Wyrmhide arena set. It works nicely with Windhawk since you get the set bonuses from both. In the meantime, continue buying the starter set as it will give you decent stats, the same set bonus, and sockets for gems - in addition to having pieces that are worth enchanting for your moonkin needs

You can try heroic Magister's Terrace for the mace that drops there or heroic Sethekk for the staff. If you got badges to spend, there are quite a few nice leather pieces available from the vendor.

If you want to go raid and keep up with everybody else, you should aim for about

800+ spell damage
150 spell hit rating (152 to be exact)
20% spell crit in moonkin form
150 mp5 when casting

Ignore spell hit rating if you don't want to raid since your talents have you covered for level 72 (heroic) bosses, especially since you already have Ashyens Gift and the Shatar head enchant is probably soon to follow once you got your feral helmet replaced.

EDIT:

Your talent build is just fine, though I would take the 3 points from Imp Nature's Grasp and put them into Celestial Focus instead (For the Wrath interrupt resist, not the stun) and the 2 points from Naturalist should move over to Nature's Focus for better survivability - for yourself and your party or raid.

Thank I was just looking for this same info. Question on Spell Hit.

I am very close to all the sugested stats except for the +hit. You are looking at 150 spell hit, but I am only at 16...??? How do you get +hit up that high without loosing the +spell damage? I think im missing something major.

Just a couple suggestions:

Ashyens Gift, Cenarion Expedition, +21 spell hit rating
Glyph of Power, Shatar, +14 spell hit rating
Scryers Bloodgem, Scryers, +32 spell hit rating
Enchant Gloves Spell Strike, +15 spell hit rating

You should aim for the hit cap of 152, even if you might only come close to ever reaching it. What you have to bare in mind is that all your bonus damage doesn't help you at all if your spell "misses". You'll find yourself having spent casting time and a GCD for absolutely nothing.

A nice way to see the effects of spell hit is going to AV and nuking the bosses there. Every "Resist" you're getting there can be overcome with +spell hit - other than your 1% base rate to miss that you're stuck with since maximum chance to hit is 99% rather than 100%
