I've been steadily working on my Healing set for my 70 Holy Paly. I'm coming along nicely and am closing in on my goals. I've taken to wearing most of my healing set at all times since it is much better than my non-healing gear.

My current weapon is http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=31304;source=live

There are still times when I'm not really needed as a full time healer. Running lowbies thru instances, dailies, etc. I even had to play shockadin in Mana Tombs the other day because there was a lower level Holy Pally in the group. Although I love my harder hitting spells...my normal white damage is pathetic. About 90-130 a swing while my SoR is hitting in the 300's. Do any of you Healadins out there seek out 1-handers with decent dps to increase your white damage. If yes, which one should I be striving for?

I know 99% of my damage potential is coming from my spells. But white hits this low are demoralizing.

You can much more easily crank your holy damage than you can you white damage. Get a weapon with more spell damage on it if you want to output more damage.

Also, remember that your current weapon has a 1.8 weapon speed, so the white damage you'll see is small. BUT - It hits more often.

If all you want to see is large white damage that makes you feel better, then get a slower weapon :)

That's the best part about pally maces post-2.3 of course. The pathetic white damage is easily offset by increased spell damage. Still, I've given passing thought to buying this when Season 4 starts.

Sounds good to me. I see myself in the OP's situation frequently and have recently been fantasizing about putting up some serious e-peen enhancing numbers. It all started when I almost accepted one of these a couple weeks ago. Our poor tank (warrior) took it instead, but under protest that it's the fourth epic 2-hander the raid has foisted upon him against his will (just in case he needs it for questing, you know?).

I still want to keep my shield up for the extra spell dmg and mp/5. And using a slow 2-Hand weapon without having SoC isn't much fun at all.

Good call. I'll have to install a damagemeter and see my actual dps. I don't want a slower weapon since I'm relying heaviliy on SoR. I know I will never have huge white numbers on this toon. SoR/JoR, Consecration, and the occassional Holy Shock are where it's at. I'm Holy spec. I'm built to heal not to "melt faces". I'm ok with that...it just hurts my pride a little bit when I run up and smack a mob 5+ levels lower than me and hit it for 80 damage.

Even worse is when you are helping out a lvl 67-68 toon, and they out DPS you. I was helping out a shammy in Terokkar the other day, and she almost doubled my damage output..... So then I started really opening up my damage by using Holy Shock, BoM, etc... I tried all the tricks. I was able to pull ahead in damage, but we had to sit and wait for me to drink every 5 seconds (or so it seemed) because I just shredded through mana.

So much for the big tough lvl 70.....lol

If you use a slower weapon, your SoR will hit for a more you know the DPS stays constant (or at least near constant).

For longer fights, or even just soloing level 70 mobs as holy sword+board, have you tried SoV? Or are you a BE? SoV destroys SoR once it stacks up.

At least I'm not the only one who hits like a starving girl scout.

I can't count the number of times I've seriously considered buying a Fel-edged battleaxe or some nonsense just so I could have some more "ooommph" behind my white hits.

Deep down I know such a purchase would be a waste of gold though. I guess I'll just focus on the things my Healadin does well and stop wishing on stars.

I love SoV for high HP mobs. But since I group with a warrior at all times...most normal stuff dies to fast for SoV to fully stack.

I wouldn't knock the damage of starving girl scouts. I once saw a troop of them take down a wooly wildebeast.

But in seriousness, just work on upping your holy damage as others have said. A nice Continuum Blade and one of these wouldn't be a bad start. Though if you have the rep, one of these or one of these (even has a slow swing for bigger hits) are even better for soloing.

And don't even get me started on how awesome this or this would be for holy soloing.

i'll give you advice from a veteran Healadin:

if you want big white numbers get this, max out your skill and put the biggest lure you can find. Murlocs never knew what hit them!
