When to start stacking critFollow

I know that you shouldn't gem for crit, but when do you start replacing spell damage for crit? I'm at 1036(1158 shadow) damage, 193 hit, 88 haste, 15.32% crit on paper doll. There is another lock who is 1050 damage, 25.45% crit and 130 hit and still does more damage/dps on boss fights. I have tried shadow bolt spam, corruption and immolate with shadow bolts, but nothing seems to work. Would it be worth trading my haste and some spell damage for more crit or switch back to affliction?

I don't have a warlock, but from listening to the locks in my guild talk, it seems like the general advice is to not spec destro until you can be hit capped (or close) and have 25% crit and 1000 shadow dmg. Before 25% crit I guess aff outweighs destro.

never. you really don't need more than 20-25% crit.

That's what I was kind of thinking. Is there a point when you can start using haste? Is 5% enough to use or should I put it aside and use other stats until I can gain more?
