Stabster, human rogue on Stormrage. i somehow let this rogue into a half guild/half pug for kara the other day.

i'll keep it short and (bitter)sweet:

1) 50 points into subtlety
2) 95 hit rating
3) last place dpser. below the main tank (me)
4) gear highlights include midnight legguards, s1 offhand and opportunist blues.


worst of all i think he was only 12 years old from the sound of his voice in vent, so i don't even think he would have taken the criticism well. why did the WoW gods curse me with this rogue...

To froman: That is a sad, sad rogue. I thought I was bad, but definitely not like that. Some notes:

~ His head piece isn't even gemmed.
~ He's got a buttload of greens
~ Fairly cheap gems for cheap gear.
~ That MH ... just get rid of it.
~ He needs a whole lot more +hit.
~ Tell him to respec to combat, also, as that's the ideal spec for raids (last I heard). Or at least make his spec not look so messy.
~ How did he get to 70 without getting at LEAST revered with a single faction?
~ Any rogue with 'stab' in their name should be stabbed.
~ He's got skinning but no second profession... LW anyone?
~ He needs to enchant his weapons and cloak

And did he go in with his gear almost shot? They're all practically broken.

i want to call my rogue CapnStabbin XD

i'm pretty sure this is the same rogue that wanted to join my guild and claimed that he topped dps in kara all the time with sub spec o.O

Ouf! You let this guy raid with you? PUGs are ok, but you gotta check people out :P I'd have taken one look at this guy and told him 'thanks for offering to help, but you're not ready man, you should go do a few instances to get your gear up'

What's wrong with OHing the S1 sword, btw? Or the legguards??

The opportunists are basically (lower quality) pvp gear, his shoulders are pvp gear too. Greens and pvp gear.. not kara ready. :P

there's nothing wrong with them per se, it's just that those are the highlights of his gear set, whereas if you look at my dps set, its highlights include Vengeance Wrap, Red Belt of Battle and Furious Gizmatic Goggles, and before i got those every single piece of gear i had was on the pre-kara fury warrior gear list (overlord's helm of second sight, cloak of the inciter, vortex walking boots etc.). i expect a good pre-kara rogue to at least have some pieces of the fel leather/assassination/wastewalker sets and this guy had none of them.

It's always better to just be honest. You don't need to be a jerk about it of course, but telling him that there are others more prepared for the run(s) is the only way to go.

Any one of the things you list would be good enough for my group to pass on a player. If you want to, you can explain why his stats/gear/spec are problematic and offer suggestions (including reading these threads) as to how he can get ready for 70 content.

Then again, if a player like this is boasting about ruling the damage meters, "sub meltz facez"*, and generally being a tool... /ignore.


*note: I'm not suggesting that sub can't melt faces, only the quote is one I've actually seen in-game from a dooshington player.

Uhmm...if he is in PvP gear mostly, why does he have only 1997 HKs, lifetime?

Beats me, seeing as two of my 70's are post-BC (lock's only been 70 since july) and the lock has 10k hk's and the rogue is over 5k.


This is where you call him a scrub, gkick him and find a rogue that knows how to play.

L2 use armory.

No class will ever be completely forsaken.

I understand that he is wearing reputation gear, and meant no disrespect in that area.

I also noted that he has increased his lifetime HKs to 2000+.

I guess my bafflement stems from being a Rogue, and having comparatively few KBs; when playing my Rogue, I often go for low health players, which, I know, is evil and uncouth, but effective.

I assume my sneaky, underhanded play-style is not common?

My Rogue is only a baby at 59, but I can get quite a few HKs in a single BG.

Sorry if I offended anyone, I was just curious.
