Stunlocked!Follow

Well folks the same old question arises...those damn rogues in the BG stunlock the crap outta me and I can't do squat...my question to you veteran SP's is this: Being a level 60 SP I'm working on the BG's and wondering if Resiliance gear and speccing 5/5 in Unbreakable Will will do anything about it. Does UW stack with the Res gear? It's my understanding that Resiliance decreases the amount of damage a crit will do to you as well as decreasing stun effects...is this correct? What can I do to combat that damn stunlock?

Against a stunlock, the classic way to survive is to outlast it. That means stacking gear with stamina and resilience. Resilience doesn't decrease the stun's duration, it just lowers the damage you take during the lock. (Unbreakable Will helps, but is far from reliable.)

Another part of the defense is to use your trinket. If you do, you have to be careful-- don't trinket out of the initial stun! The initial stun is usually a bit into its duration by the time you think to trinket out, and from the moment the first stun hits he has a second ready to go. Trinket out of the second stun, and he is forced to Gouge and hope he gets out of combat, or blow his Vanish to get his chance to reapply. If he does Vanish, of course, he'll be approaching his stun DR quickly; hopefully you've got some life left afterwards.

Resilience has many effects now that it's a "one-stop shop" PvP defense; read the tooltip fully to appreciate its full functionality.

Anyway, why are you stopping at level 60 to PvP? If you want leveling gear, you'll get more and better by... questing more, and running the Outlands instances.

The reason I did it is that getting all that honor at 70 really sucks when you're terribly outgeared. By going pre-70, I can at least have some fun while grinding honor.

Well to answer your question, The reason i'm PvPing now is because I intend to level/pvp at the same time, and I kinda want the free 60 mount to start.Added to that, I figure by the time I hit 70 I'll have plentiful honor and medals, which means purple priest gear as soon as i can wear them, if that's what I decide to get....You are right about Outlands though, some seriously nice gear there too so far. As far as my question though, I appreciate you guys posting but really...what IS the best way to break a stunlock? After a little research today at work today I guess resiliance does not decrease stunlock, it only prevents crits and gives bonuses against such attacks. Unbreakable Will is useless against them, and Outlasting a stunlock at this point is a moot point because i just can't break free in time to hit desperate prayer. i know there is someone out there with an answer, come on Vetrans lets hear from ya!

if you dont have bubble and inner fire up at all times, you lose in BG.

If you have enough stamina and inner fire up, and you manage to outlast the stuns, use Psychic scream asap. If you are lucky he does not have the trinket or it's on cooldown, so you can bubble and heal back up(step out of shadowform)
. Remember to dot him if you have time so he won't be able to vanish.

Most experienced rogues expect a Psychic Scream after their Kidney Shot wears off, and will take steps (Cloak of Shadow, for example) to counter it so they can burn you down. That's a great time to use Pain Suppression if you were specced that way, followed by shield and instant heals. If the rogue's energy is low, you can probably get off a flash heal without getting kicked. As an engineer, I like to throw out my Nigh-Invulnerability Belt shield after stunlock.

But as for the stunlock itself, you have to have the gear. At 70, that means High stamina, high resilience, Medallion. I also use the stun-resist metagem, which stacks with Unbreakable Will.

At 60 as a Shadowpriest, you should have few problems. Buy "of the Sorcerer" outland greens for all your slots, trinket out of their Cheap Shot and Psychic Scream them. The damage reduction of Inner Fire and Shadowform at that level make you tougher than most plate wearers.

Coming from a rogue POV, as the above person says, you can always psyhic scream and then DoT DoT DoT. Most likely the rogue will use up their CoS, which leaves room for you to DoT again.

If you're in a battleground, you could keep using Mind Control to run them off the ledge. I usually have time to get off only one spell with a rogue on my ***, and it usually does not matter because they always win. So, if you are in the right situation, as I have done, just get them as far from you as possible.

One on one in a BG you will have a problem with a rogue, but that is also why I would stress that you stay with a party member so that you have an immediate "oh crap" button by way of a friend. Luckily you do have a chance in regards to a level 60 rogue has limited health compared to your damage output, so you may be able to survive the initial stun and get him at range as mentioned before.

However, at level 60, if he is combat maces, you are in real trouble... so keep your friends close or at least move around the map in a group so that someone may spot the rogue and offer some protection. (Mind Flay is your best spell against a rogue as it slows them down so that someone else can crush them for you... plus it auto tracks if you have that rogue that likes to bounce and hop like a bunny on crack.)

Trinketing KS will justprompt Blind -> Sap -> CS -> KS, only this tiem you start at lower health. No, a DoT will not stop this happening if he knows what he's doing.

Basically you need to be able to tank 10 seconds of stunlock 1v1 (and trinket blind). Easy at 70 but not so much at 60.

Luckily, combat maces is starting to die out because of ShS and Mutilate specs.

Quoted for truth. Pay attention here because he speaks the truth.

First I would say, get out of the 60 bracket. Level to 70. Work on getting a perfect set of 70 PVP gear which includes 11k health buffed, 450 resilience, 1400 healing and 4k armor+ with inner fire.

At this point, don't trinket kidney shots, we'll just blind, restealth, sap, sap, stun DR wears off and we do it all over again.

You can't sap without being in stealth, I think he's missing vanish there, but then again, what's the point in blinding first.

OK, here's what happens:

You blind, you wait for combat to go away (about 5 to 6 seconds) then you stealth and sap them in betweeen DoT ticks (if you're DoTed). If you just vanished then you couldn't sap as your target would still be in combat. Furthermore, stealth would break before they did drop combat from the DoT - you don't have ClOS at that level. If you vanished and Csd right away, KS would be on cd by the time CS ended and CS would be on diminishing returns. You don't need to vanish in thesequence I described.
