Healing Tips?Follow

so, today i went and did Magister's Terrace, all in all it went pretty well, we did wipe alot due to lack of cc at the beggining, but we eventually had 2 mages 1 rogue the tank(warrior) and me(holy priest..see sig).

anyway, i found it very difficult to keep every party member up during the kael fight(we never killed him), this was my first time actually healing a level 70 instance, so i had no idea what to expect.

the thing that got me was AoE damage, during the 2nd boss 1 party member went down at the end as he was "overloading". On the kael fight it was the lift thingy that puts you in the air, i could not seem to find a way to heal through every party member getting dealt 300 dmg per 1 second(i think?) and stay away from the bubbles at the same time.

The reason for this post is i would like to know what heals to use, when and certain things that i should look out for(ie..AoE dmg) that will make my job alot harder.

edit- i would also like to know of any instances that are good for "starters" to work with, magisters didn't seem like it should be for a starter to me.

thanks in advance

Prayer of Mending. Whenever it is up. Starting on you.

That is really it, prayer of mending will bounce around healing the group, and then all you have to do is hot all 5 people and fly around. I would even go so far as to say that the fight is easier if you let one or two melee dps die so you can focus hots on yourself an a caster and just cast prayer of mending each time it is up.

I have beaten that boss on heroic with one mage and myself left on the air part with hots and Prayer of Mending, when you get thrown in the air the fight gets easy.

I'm not a priest expert, but based on having done the fight on my rogue ... I'd second the Prayer of Mending suggestion.

Keep Prayer of Mending up and keep Renew up as much as possible. If you're low on life, consider a Binding Heal. DPS (e.g. Rogues) should be able to burn potions at this point if they need. Skills like Ice Block, Bubble, and Cloak of Shadows could be useful too. If he still has it up, a Warrior might be able to burn Shield Wall.

The biggest problem is if your melee can't avoid the flying orbs. They do a LOT more damage than the arcane effect.

In terms of easier instances, I'd say that Shadow Labs and Steam Vaults are good "starter" ones at 70.

Certainly Magisters Terrace has to be one of the tricker ones in normal mode. Steamvaults would be a good starter, also Botanica, but none of them are too bad if you have the right group make up.

Magister's Terrace normal is harder than some heroics until you have it down. Heroic MrT is the hardest heroic there is.

Second boss - all the adds have to die before 20%. If they don't, you do. Especially on heroic.
Kael - PoM lots, renews, shields if you really need it. Binding Heal is pretty useful too. CoH if you're specced that way and people are actually grouped up, if not Prayer after you land. Be sure you're also DoT'ing him up, if you've got the mana, while you're back on the ground. Good time to pop Fiend too, if you need it.
Also, on the third boss, it's like a 5v5 arena. No tanking for the most part, need lots of CC. I usually throw on my S3 helm and gloves for the uncrittability and -3sec on fear. Also, the MS warrior (naga) is a ***** >.<

Easy starting instances are Sethekk Halls if you haven't done it (really that's more 68/69), Mechanar, Steamvaults, Botanica, in no particular order. Each one, though has one boss that's a little tough at first. Black Morass is cake as well if you've got a shadow priest. Easiest heroics, once you get there, I'd say are Slave Pens and Mechanar (except maybe the 3rd boss), and with a good group (read: shadow priest and good tank), BM is cake as well.

Choosing Magister's Terrace as the first place to heal at 70 ... I feel for you. It's definitely the hardest instances hands down.

I say go try Steamvaults or Mechanar or Botanica to start with to get some practice and then head back to MrT. I'm sure you will find it better after you have more experience, though I admit I hate the place (and I don't even heal).
