fury warrior need sockets?Follow

#1 Apr 08 2008 at 10:20 AM Rating: Decent
Im having a little trouble understanding what sockets to use for my fury warrior build 17/44/0. So what sockets would be best? Sockets that give +hit rating vs. sockets that give +crit. strike, or sockets which give +strength for attack power?

Socket are always nice to have. Gemming your sockets is based on what you need in your gear. If you have a nice amount of crit, socket for strength. If you're in Kara or pre kara, socketting for +hit isn't totally bad but there is badge gear that can help fill the gaps making the NEED to gem for hit less desirable.

For red sockets put +str, blue sockets put +crit & +stam, for yellow use +str and +crit. Socket those according to color if the socket bonus is worth a damn, (i.e. Socket Bonus: +4 Crit rating). Also, you can socket whatever gems you want in whatever socket color you want to avoid stacking more of one stat than the other. If you have blue & yellow sockets with a crappy socket bonus and you need AP more than your crit, stack them with str gems, and vice versa.

Once you get 9% hit (so you don't miss ur specials) socket for crit & AP over hit. The gear you get after kara will start to have hit in it, and you can always get badge gear to help with hit.

Another noob question.
How about Agi? Is it batter to have Agi than Str? Agi = +crit, str = +dmg?

Agi isn't as important to a Fury Warrior, Str is. The conversion is 1 Str = 2.2 Attack Power, so Str is a DPS Warriors friend. Agi will still provide a Crit+ rating, but you need to be able to hit the mob/boss first, and without a good base AP you won't be doing much dmg anyways.

It's not hard to get your hit capped, however DW Fury Warriors kinda have it rough. 93 Hit is the cap with 3/3 Precision (technically, kinda true for DW but kinda not as well). After that, AP and Crit are going to be important. I forget what a DW Warriors hit cap is (way higher than 93).

Never socket agl, ever. Never socket hit unless you are just starting out and need to get your 9% hit so your specials won't miss.

There is a section in the dps warrior faq about which gems contribute the most to your dmg. Once your geared though you will socket nothing but str gems save for the few you needed for your meta gem requirement.
