Respec @40 for Mortal Strike?Follow

#1 Apr 08 2008 at 10:00 AM Rating: Decent
Hello all,

I was wondering if I should Respec @ 40 (currently 38) in order to get MS. I currently have gone down the Fury path to get Flurry asap and was wondering if I should be giving up Imp. Slam & Flurry for MS. I mainly use 2-hand sword at the moment if that matters.

Thanks in advance.

imp slam all the way. Unless you plan to PvP like crazy.

Even then at 40 youll want the fury instant attack (Bloodthirst?) because its based off AP instead of weapon damage which scales better as you level up. Unless you plan on PvPing a lot the Mortal Strike really shines because of its healing debuff.

I really do like the damage I'm putting out (PVE) with 2hand Imp slam w/ flurry. When I hit 20 I went dual wield for about ten levels and really didn't like it that much. I felt that I was going through mobs much quicker with a 2-hander and have been switched back to 2H while keeping my 1h sword capped for sword+board situations.

I play on a PVP server and so it would be nice to be able to PVP better, but it would really be for those "is that a horde on the horizon?" situations since I'm not planning on doing arenas yet (if i could). Would going Arms @40 really make it that much easier in PVP? Would it hamper my PVE that much? It's a bit embarrrassing as to how many times I die in pvp...

Alos, if I do stay furry, should I pick up bloodthirst or even rampage? I was initially planning on focusing on the Arms tree once I got my 5/5 in Flurry and to eventually get MS @70.

Thanks for the replies.

Ken

when i was leveling i ran with 41 points in fury 2hslam. Crit and rampage one fight, and if i was chain pulling i would be able to keep it up pretty close to nonstop. Thats a lot of AP, makes your bloodthirst a bit better.

All three options are good.
You can feel free to choose the one you like the most.
Arms build with MS will not be that bad as some say, It is just different way of playing. I would say that it is popular to say "Arms belongs to PvP", but arms build will not make you fail in any way. I would certainly say it is nice to be Arms on PvP server. You are just a bit more prepared to fight for your place on Azeroth....

2H Fury or DW Fury as well are of course vialable builds. Just stay away from protection tree while leveling.
I am still falling asleep when forced to farm with this specc :P.

Oh and remember that trying different things gives expirience and makes you a better player, a player with his own opinion. Respecc is not that expencive unless you are forced to respec 3 times a week as I am lately.

the good thing about being MS is that you get MS at 40, and you get 2/2 second wind at 42. thats 10% of your life back, as well as a nice chunk of rage, anytime you get stunned or rooted. stuns and roots are, coincidentally, a warriors two greatest enemies. so now you have a strong ally on your side to help deal with being stunned and rooted. and of all the things that will kill you as youre leveling up, it would be stuns and roots. but if youre getting 10% of your life back each time that happens, and you figure youll get stunned rooted 2-5 times per battle (depending on how things go) youre enemies have to burn thru another 20-50% of your health.

thats a significant chunk. second wind is also nice for those odd mobs that root/stun in pve. getting knocked down sucks no matter what, but at least youre getting a good amount of rage and some health back each time it happens.

in terms of pve leveling, yeah, itll be a little slower. your slams are slower, which means more swing time being interrupted, but your crits hit harder, youve got a nice DoT effect anytime you crit from deep wounds, better intercept, and more flat damage from your 2h. all of this helps make up for it, and the addition of parry and imp tclap means your survivability also goes up. so while you may not kill quite as fast, you take less overall damage while also having better burst capability.

for me, the tradeoff was worth it. i dont care if i level 10% slower than 2h fury (made up number, i dont know what the actual difference is), i like knowing i can hold my own in case some stupid idiot gets a burr up his *** and thinks he can take me.

Depends on your play style. I've leveled my warrior 1-70 as arms spec, I'm currently 41/20/0, and I love MS with a nice big 2h. The thing you have to be most concerned about is the cooldown. Make sure you have a good rotation where your best attacks are never on cooldown. My rotation is intercept-white damage-slam-white damge-MS-WW. Good luck. Also, I should note that I use my build both for raiding DPS and for PvP, with no respeccing, and it works great for both.

Yeah, my warrior on anetheron is also 2h fury, i would get pwned hard in world PvP. unless you get lucky and find somebody who stands still.
