I play on a PVP server and so it would be nice to be able to PVP better, but it would really be for those "is that a horde on the horizon?" situations since I'm not planning on doing arenas yet (if i could). Would going Arms @40 really make it that much easier in PVP? Would it hamper my PVE that much? It's a bit embarrrassing as to how many times I die in pvp...
the good thing about being MS is that you get MS at 40, and you get 2/2 second wind at 42. thats 10% of your life back, as well as a nice chunk of rage, anytime you get stunned or rooted. stuns and roots are, coincidentally, a warriors two greatest enemies. so now you have a strong ally on your side to help deal with being stunned and rooted. and of all the things that will kill you as youre leveling up, it would be stuns and roots. but if youre getting 10% of your life back each time that happens, and you figure youll get stunned rooted 2-5 times per battle (depending on how things go) youre enemies have to burn thru another 20-50% of your health.
thats a significant chunk. second wind is also nice for those odd mobs that root/stun in pve. getting knocked down sucks no matter what, but at least youre getting a good amount of rage and some health back each time it happens.
in terms of pve leveling, yeah, itll be a little slower. your slams are slower, which means more swing time being interrupted, but your crits hit harder, youve got a nice DoT effect anytime you crit from deep wounds, better intercept, and more flat damage from your 2h. all of this helps make up for it, and the addition of parry and imp tclap means your survivability also goes up. so while you may not kill quite as fast, you take less overall damage while also having better burst capability.
for me, the tradeoff was worth it. i dont care if i level 10% slower than 2h fury (made up number, i dont know what the actual difference is), i like knowing i can hold my own in case some stupid idiot gets a burr up his *** and thinks he can take me.
