PVP: weapon or armor first?Follow

I recently respecced my prot warrior to arms/fury for PVP. I'm more into instance running but my group is taking a little break(leveling another group to 70) so I decided to PVP a little on my free time.

My warrior PvP set right now consist of the rep set introduced in the last patch. While I'm not doing so bad, I'm not doing great either. I can deal serious damage but I get killed pretty easily.

Right now I have enough marks and honor for either the S1 head and gloves or the epic weapon. I know I should probably focus on my weapon first since my damage dealing is my main attribute but the head and gloves would give me that much more survivability.

I would like to hear the opinion of more experienced warrior. The extra str I would get from the gear kinda makes up for the extra AP on the weapon. So it comes down to either an increase of 20 dps vs and increase of 500HP and armor.

Being able to take 1 or 2 extra hit seems like a good thing but if I can get that rogue down faster then I won't take that extra hit.

So what's your take on this? Weapon or head/gloves in priority?

I will likely get the rest of the set later but I'm looking at the best way to improve my performance in order to pull my weight a little bit more in the long honor grind it will be to acquire the entire set.

been playing warrior in arenas for 1 week now, so keep that in mind.

I vote weapon, mainly because i have noticed i am not the first target, in fact im usually the last target so your damage output needs to be stacked. Not to say you want to go in there with 6k HP, there is a balance, but in this case i would get the weapon asap.

re-reading your post it seems to be focused more on BGs, in that case i would say its a tossup.

I'm not sure what's the best but I got some armor first. I had none resilience, and I went down pretty quick. However, when I got the S1 sword, it was a major upgrade (I was using The Burning Crusader). Not only did I DPS better, I also got a nice boost of DPS and resi. Now I almost have a full S1 set. Only need my Vindicator belt and boots, trinket and one more ring.

What I always did when choosing a next piece to upgrade (armor only), I looked at stats. What upgrade would be more beneficial (statswise)to what I already have? I allready had a great deal of armor and Stam (used to be kara-tank), so Strenght, AP, crit, Resi and hit were what I needed the most.

I would say weapon first. If you're Arms, look at the top end damage of the weapon. Usually, slower weapons will have higher top end damage but lower dps. As Arms, you will be doing damage in bursts. So, a higher top end damage weapon will allow you to hit / crit higher compared to a faster hitting weapon.

I may be wrong but that's what I've always looked out for.

2 Hander - Top end damage > DPS
1 Hander - DPS > Top end damage

Weapon - sure u will die a lot without the better armour and resilience, but there isnt a significantly big difference between the new rep set and the S1 set but the extra damage output you will get from getting the weap is significantly more noticeable.

Besides more damage = faster kills = more kills = more honour = get the armour faster (ideally lol).

Also once you have the marks u need for the armour, you can make use of the new quest where u turn in the marks for honour. This can almost double the amount of honour you are getting (provided you win more than you lose and you can afford to use the marks).

without knowing the actual weapon you currently run with, its hard to give you concrete advice, but generally you will see a bigger increase in dmg/kills/fun with a new weapon, seeing as you are already sporting the rep pvp gear.

However, my real advice would be to get S1 gear with your honor, and really consider Blacksmithing weapons, as i can tell you from personal experience that the Stormherald (quite easily obtainable now with BoE primals/vortexes) is a ridiculous amount of fun. Plus the fact that 3k+ MS crits scare the hell out of me , let alone the toon it just obliterated.

Also, if you have the rep pvp set, i would probably concentrate on getting yourself the Vindicator pieces ie. bracers, boots , ring , neck . I, personally would reccomend http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30032 for waist (until you have all the other pieces). As these will make a more significant impact replacing non-pvp items.

if you can provide an armory link, we would be much better able to give advice on what specific pieces to replace and in which order. all imho of course :P
