what pvp gear would you get first?Follow

I play as a resto druid and have enough marks and honor banked at this point to start buying my gear.

What gear would you guys recommend getting first?
I was initially planning on buying http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=32451 (gladiator's salvation)
as well as http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=32452 (gladiator's reprieve).
Now I'm wondering if maybe I should grab up my equipment first since I have my honor. (chest, head, hand, legs and shoulder)
I'm beginning to think I would be crazy to not get the armor first and than keep working on the main/off hand slots.
At least I will have some resil when I hit 70 vs not having any...
I could probably afford to get 1 or 2 more pcs of armor if I buy my main/off hand first.
It might not seem like much of a dilemma actually if you look at it from the resil standpoint only.
I'm looking at it from the +heal perspective though as well.
My current hodgepodge gear gets me +544 healing right now and adding the salvation and the reprieve only, will push me to +954.
Yet if I buy the 5 main pcs of kodohide I'm going to see only +342 heals plus my current staff + heal of 115 = +457 heals.
Obviously when I enter a battleground my main role is to keep people alive for as long as possible. So if I go in there with my +heal gimped from before I'm not going to be helping as much as I was before.
I get steamrolled in AV as is by 1 person let alone a group of 2 or more.
So should I gimp my heals in hopes of surviving another 30 seconds or get the main/off hand to buff my heals and die just as quick as before?
Thoughts? recommendations?

1 person suggessted I grab the shoulders and another piece to get the 2 pc bonus of +35 resil and grab the main/off hand if possible which I think I am going to do.

I have been gearing up my Resto Druid as well. IMO you should pick up two pieces of the S1 set first (I went with shoulders and hands) then get the mace and off-hand. This will give you some decent starting Resil and a huge boost to your +healing.

From then on I would recommend picking up pieces that would give the biggest upgrade to your current gear. Don't forget to do your arena matches each week as well, you will probably lose most of them for a while but you'll still get arena points.

Also consider that you will be getting S1 AND S3 gear at the same time. You won't have the arena rating to grab S3 shoulders or weapons, so get the S3 chest first with your arena pts. since it offers the most protection and +healing out of the 5 main pieces (though it does cost the most too). Then i'd use the honor to get S1 shoulders or legs (though having the shoulders makes you look like you are in pvp gear, not lvl 65 greens), and outsourcing to get the weapons (you can buy the S0.5 ones or get them through PvE).

Try and find a 3v3 or 5v5 in which you aren't the only healer so you can grab the most pts the fastest.

In bg's you are probably better off with +heals, since you can instant HoT 4 people around you, and then get full mana as soon as you rez :D being 2 shotted by those warriors will get annoying, but you'll probably do more good. It's like being a fresh 70 lock... spawn, stay with a group, find baddies, dot everyone (unless they are cc'd), die, repeat.

I should have stated I have no ambition to play arena on this toon whatsoever.
Even though I do play on a pvp server...
I appreciate all the feedback though!

The Arena is pretty easy, to be honest. You can easily do 10 matches in one day and even if you lose all ten, you still get some arena points. I joined a random Arena team with my Warlock and a Warrior decked in full S1 and we got our asses handed to us in eight of the fights. One we barely pulled off (the Warrior spent 5 minutes on a Holy Paladin before we won) and the other we ripped through since I got off some lucky crits and survived.

Queue time was <1 minute.

I'm not going to completely rule arenas out but until I find some of those knowledgeable players to join up with I'm not going to put myself through that frustration.
Might as well go in naked and dance/ wait to be killed and repeat. I'm currently guildless so getting guildies isn't an option at the moment either.
In the last week I have been asked to join these guy's readymade and it's ok but it's not regular (alot of them seem to share accounts = blah) and I don't see myself joining an arena team with them either.
No "rl" friends play wow so I don't have that going for me either.

<nods>

The weapon and offhand are way more tempting on a purely visceral level, but getting that 2-set resil bonus is, I think, in line with generally-accepted wisdom on the topic. After the 2 pieces, I'd probably give in and scoop up the MH/OH. :)

Which 2 pieces you get first is up for debate and very dependent on your gear. Don't underestimate the meta in the hat, but really you should probably just replace whatever 2 pieces of your current gear are the suxxorzest. I remember my first piece of Glad gear were the legs--I went from high 60s sorcerer gear to Merciless Silk

Oh my that was a happy day.

[NOTE: THE FOLLOWING HIJACK IS NOT SUPPORTED BY BLIZZARD, ALLAKHAZAM, OR THE ORIGINAL POSTER]
I've checked out a few of the guides on Resto PvP and, while my druid is still far off from 70, I like to dream. I plan on grabbing either Exorcist's Dragonhide Helm or Grand Marshal's Kodohide Helm and since i've only played my Hunter in the arena, I wonder what stats will be most needed initially. My Hunter is wielding the Powerful Earthstorm Diamond, so i'm comparing that to the Insightful Earthstorm Diamond and Swift Starfire Diamond.

As soon as I hit 70, I'll be entering the bg's and arenas with guild premades and my roomate's Hunter... I'm sure optimal strats will change by the time I level up all the way, but right now we're planning him running the arena drain spec, while i'll pick up a mixed spec for PvE and PvP until we get higher arena ratings.

So, the question is: Stm & stun resist, Int & Mana Regen, or +Healing & run speed increase (assuming +12 spell damage applies to healing like it usually does). This will be until i get my S3/S4 helm, then i'll have to ask myself that question again.

Thanks for any input, and sorry for hijacking!
