go to Petopia, check your possibilities, check what different pets can do for you, test some of them, choose.

With the recent patch lowering the amount of XP needed for pets to level, it MAY be possible to get 2 pets to 29.
Forget about the skin (what color it is, etc) and just get a pet of the wanted type (cat, boar, etc) as close to your own level as possible. You would also want full loyalty, so you have as many training points as possible.
Get your pet to 29 with Growl, then get the pet trainer to wipe your pets talents, and drop Growl (if it will be a purely PvP pet). This will give room for, for example, Dash, Bite, Claw, Prowl (for a cat).
Mind you, I haven't done this, so I'm just guessing.

Rotting Agam'ars (26 Elite, Razorfen Kraul) have a good looking skin, and a boar's charge is something to die for (interrupt an opponent's life saving heal or something), but boar's have a -10% DPS. Plus side is that they have more health than cats, which have +10% DPS compared to boars.

In my opinion, I'd go for a boar because of the charge ability, and they have more health to stay up longer.

You could go for a cat though, since the opponent will most likely focus his attacks on you rather than the pet. So in this case the pet's health wouldn't be as important as it helping you top the DPS charts in BGs (or dropping the opponent a little bit faster).

Boar's charge doesn't interrupt, it just roots the taret as targets casting a heal are not moving anyway, this will not stop the heal. However, the boar does push the spell back as it hits with charge and gore.

Also, go ahead and keep growl on a boar/cat at 29, because you will NOT be getting dash pre-level-32 (or prowl for that matter). As such, a boar is about the only pet that will actually get to the target quick, although all pets have a base +15% run speed.

That said, in PvP you want mobility, survivability, and burst damage. Pets don't need survivability, as no player in his right mind would attack the pet unless the pet is the only thing not currently crowd controlled. So, you're down to mobility and burst damage (or poison).

Some useful pets are:
-Boar...charge+gore provides some nice burst damage, and like I said earlier - boars are the most mobile pets pre-32.
-Cat/Raptor/Ravager...all of these pets have a focus dump and very high damage output. Ravager is better (slightly) but they're all three +10% DPS pets.
-Birds...Carrion Birds, Owls, and Bats provide a debuff to lower enemy meleer's damage. In a place with a lot of warriors, rogues, and hunters, this could be useful. Screech also deals some damage, so it's not wasted focus by any means, although there are probably better pets out there.
-Wind Serpent...Very high burst damage output, and the abilitiy to damage targets while rooted.
-Scorpid...while not having a very high damage output, scorpids are great for their poison. Poisons can cause a target who is bandaging to stop bandaging, and can prevent rogues/druids/elves from going stealth.
-Serpent...same benefits of the scorpid, only from a range.

At level 26-29, a boar (Bellygrub or a boar from RFK), a cat (from several locations), a raptor (from wetlands), bat (from RFK), or wind serpent (from 1k) would be fairly easy to get and level with you. For the others, you'd have to start over or do a LOT of grinding on bottom-level green mobs.

Get the boar from RFK for the most usage.

Get anything else for the fun of it.

My two friends twinked out at 29 with matching toons. So for pets, one of them got Echeyakee, while the other got the black skin lookalike. Looks neat.

I really don't think you'll be able to get two pets, and I wouldn't drive myself anywhere close to level 30 just to do it. You need to quest for a bunch of gear, along with having enough to maybe eventually get the Deadman's Ring or the AGM. You really want to leave as much leeway as possible.

k, tnx to all the great answers. i will definatly get a boar to 29 first and see my cat options and if i can just tame a 29 w/e (or visaversa). i wasnt sure if id be able to get 2 pets to 29, but as stated its best not to push it.
