macro's Follow

#1 Apr 06 2008 at 4:43 AM Rating: Decent
Can any one give me some advice on macro's what are some good macros to make and more importantly how do I make some of the more complicated one's

ie. I went to a website that had this as a macro

cast [nopet] summon water elemental
/stopmacro [nopet]
/petattack

and

/cast [nopet] summon water elemental
/stopmacro [nopet]
/click petactionbutton5

I typed these in just like this as this is how they were on that site and when I hit the button for these macro's I summon my water ele but that is all that happens what am I doing wrong? Is there a general rule for making macro's like this haveing multiple actions on one macro.
thank you for any help on this matter.

Edit: I was completely wrong, still check out FAQ.

IDK, you might want to check the macros FAQ, Im pretty sure you will find answers there.

Well for yours you need to hit it twice for it to start attacking. I suggest this macro though,
#showtooltip Summon Water Elemental
/use [nopet] Xi'ri's Gift
/stopcasting [nopet]
/cast [nopet] Summon Water Elemental
/stopmacro [nopet]
/petpassive]
/petattack
/cast Freeze
Basically with that click it once and it will use your trinket and summon pet (trinket so that it does more damage) and than put it on passive, one more click will make it bring out the freeze and attack.

Also, im not sure what level you are but basically if you dont have Xiri's Gift or another trinket that adds spell damage when used just take that line out.

If you have a UF addon that has focus frames, use them.

To set a focus target, you use:
/focus

To clear this target, use:
/clearfocus

You can make wonderful macros to only use skills on your focus target:

/cast [target=focus] *spell*

I personally use Counterspell and Polymorph with this macro, it's nice to cc something you can hardly see while dpsing someone else, or while doing pretty much the same in an arena match.

Can you recommend a popular addon? I am interested in using the /focus functionality to macros.

most second-party UF addons do this, I prefer Pitbull but many like Xperl, AG_UF, and others.
