Not sure if auto-countdown is possible. If I recall correctly it's possible to do wait commands that then trigger messages, but I have no idea how to do it or whether it's been removed since then.

Messages on summoning and Soulwells are easy as pie, though; you just need to replace your normal summoning/Soulwell button with a macro that goes like this:

if you want to know how long is left on your banish without changing targets?, set a key to make the banish target your focus and activate a focus window, this will have the mob that you selceted plus the debuff icon of banish with the amount of time left on it.

saves having an addon where its not needed

try Uberbanish, i got it from curse. it does a countdown in raid chat at 5sec intervals and sends a pst to other locks if you have a demon banished and die while it is still banished. and as mentioned already necrosis for summons.
