Hey all. Just got back into the game after being away for a bit. Wanted to jump into either my warlock or my shaman but wanted some honest advice on the classes as to which one i should finish to 70 and then concentrate on equipping. I have seen some sick things happen on an Enh shaman on my guild as in any 5 man or Kara run he kicks the tar out of us on damage meters shown at the end of the run (And I have been going as my Rogue). I have also seen some rather disgusting things done on a well played Warlock. Wanted opinions off of people here on what might be better from a realistic perspective, and also what people have seen in their runs (5 man and Kara etc) as to which one is a better option in terms of doing more for a group and getting down and dirty.

From a warlock perspective also (If I go that route), I keep seeing the whole arguement about doing the whole felguard thing versus affliction thing in 5 man runs and kara. Which one is a better option damage, survivability, and/or fun wise? Which seems to help a run out more?

Just wanted honest advice and viewpoints based on what people have experienced in the past little bit. Hope you guys can help clear some things up for me and help me on my way to 70. Thanks a bunch guys.

Cheers

Both bring a lot to the group. One thing to consider, is that most 25-mans will only bring one Enh Shammy to put in the melee group for buffs. While they can put out sick damage, they bring little else to the raid. Warlock can also put out some pretty crazy damage, and it isn't as reliant on gear in the early affliction stages of raiding. You won't get by in blues, but at the same time there's plenty of easy to get purples for us.

I'm working on my Shaman recently, he's only 38 right now though, so can't speak for end game, but so far levelling him I've found having up to date gear makes a huge difference, which it didn't levelling my lock. I'm not to sure how hard it is to gear them up at end-game, if welfare epics are viable for them, or if they need some really hard to get stuff to put out the crazy damage they do. I also don't really care, as mines gonna go resto once I get to Outlands.

From what I see, Shamans bring damage, and I think in some cases a few interrupts(Earth Shock), on fights like Shade of Aran. Warlocks bring AoE, very important on some fights(Illhoof, Hydross) and can tank certain fights(Leo), Soulstone, HS and CoS/CoE(boost other peoples damage). All in all, I'd say warlocks have more utility, though damage output is arguable, I won't go there cause there's too many factors, such as which do you enjoy more, gear, raid make-up.....the list can go on.

For enhancement shammies, the pvp weapons (S1/S2/S3 take your pick) and vindicators gear is the best you'll see in kara-early SSC/TK. If you can get S3 gear then that works as well, but gem it for pve not stam/resil >.<
