Because the effect used to add to the effect of Soul Siphon.

Sadly, that was removed not to long ago.

I think it still effects Soul Siphon, but beforehand it affected lots of other spells... I can't remember any off-hand, but rest assured it still affects Soul Siphon.

One more thing to be dispelled.

Depends, in PVP it's kind of a dispel protection. Of course not even nearly as dangerous as UA but it can be a tiny pain in the ***.

It makes it harder to dispel. You're applying 2 debuffs every GCD, and everyone but a priest can only dispel 1 debuff at a time.

EDIT: Doh, I really should reload pages towards the end of my list when I open 20 of them at once >.>

Yes, I am telling you that soul siphon was excluded from that. It doesn't TRIGGER soul siphon. The "triggered" effects it's referring to are things like the Spellstrike Set bonus and the 2 pc. T4 set bonus. They're procs that used to be applied by Soul Siphon.

Evidence? Sure, why not.

The experiment:

Apply Unstable Affliction, which will not apply Shadow Embrace, then drain life.

Apply Corruption, which will apply Shadow Embrace, then drain life.

If the numbers match, you're right. If they don't, I am.

Well,
Corruption: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c173/Lokiliesmith/WoWScrnShot_040508_145843.jpg

UA:

Can people PLEASE stop talking about how SE doesn't contribute to Soul Siphon now?
