arcane before T5Follow

#1 Apr 04 2008 at 8:46 AM Rating: Decent
I'm new to the forums and i'm not sure if this has been coverd already but why not.
I have been specd 21/40/0 for as long as i can remember for raiding and just recently changed to arcane to make farming the primal fires alot easier for my spellfire set. 53/8/0
I wanted to continue raiding so i would change my spec for raids and go back to arcane for Farming the mats. But as you can imagine by raiding every night that could get very expencive.
So what i'm asking is..
Is arcane before T5 2 set bonus a good idea or should i just suck it up and Respec for raiding?

Why not just stay raid specced and farm motes of water/shadow/air/earth and sell them for motes of fire?

This.

It's much eaiser to go to SMV and farm air and water then it is to deal with all the people farming fire motes. Then just sell them and buy your fire motes in the AH. I would start south of the Scryer place and farm air, then fly north to the other "coast" and farm the airs there. Then head west and hit up the water ele's. Then just start all over again.

There are probably lots of things you could farm as fire and just sell that stuff and buy your fires off the auction house or trade chat. You could farm aldor/scryer rep items, get loads of cloth which also sells reasonably well, farm other primals besides fire, there is scholo/strat for blues and shards.

There's lots of ways to make money and still get what you need. Its just another way of farming.

First, I am also curious of the answer to your original question:

That said, I also agree with everyone that you should find something else to make money and then buy the primals. Because even if they are "free" by spending your time farming, you have to take into account the respec cost. And you can do other stuff, such as the new insanely easy dailies, to make more money and buy primals faster than you could farm them.

For *serious* raid damage, Arcane is only viable with 2pT5 and drops out soon after you hit T6. Several 40/0/21 mages with one 10/0/51 to stack Winter's Chill puts out some nasty damage, but you're not touching any arcane spells with that build, and it's still not as good as everyone going Fire/IV.

EDIT: Farm Primal Mana and sell it. Mana goes between 15-20g and Fire between 24 and 28 on my server, but I can farm Mana faster as a priest (awesome respawn rates at the village in Netherstorm, just have CS and Rank 1 Fire Blast ready for mana burn/reflect). It seems like the only place that, no matter how many people there are, I'm never waiting more than a few seconds for respawns, unlike water or fire where a total of 3 people can clear the place easily.

Wow thanks for all the advice.
I never really thought about farming other primals to afford fires before.
