Well, I never thought it would happen to me but it did. My brother logged in on his account and saw me online. Problem was, I was standing right next to him.

I did finally manage to get a new password and lock him out of my account. However, my warrior is now naked in Shattrath with no money and nothing in the bank.

This isnt really a sympathy post (although any pity is welcome in this situation :P ) - what I am wondering is if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can build up some gear again. I have done all the quest for quest rewards so cant get new gear from there and am not part of a guild atm so can't do any dungeons.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance

1. Contact Bliz and tell what has happened. Ask them to change also your account name, because othervise they might hack it again.
Pasword atleast 8 marks long, with capitals and numbers in it.
2. Chechk your PC for Adware + viruses.
3. Check firewall, antivirus and install Adware blogger.

How to start all over again, well... Maby your bro can help you out. You might still have some ppl on your friend list, tell them what has happened and I am sure they will help you. If they wont, remove them from your friend list.

Friend pays your guarantee money, but real friend says: we are f...ed ;)

if you open a gm petition they will be able to get your gear back. it has happened to plenty of people i know in almost all of my guilds. you will lose all gemming and enchants, but will be able to get the actual gear back.

Thanks for advice guys.

I have opened a petition. Thing is - I just transferred to this server. The only person I actually know is my brother. (Long story as to why we were on different servers).

Do they also return honour and gold? Coz I had 10k honour and about 800g. but the hacker actually pvped some, bought something with my AV marks and then destroyed whatever he bought.

Cant believe what an ******** he was. Was swearing at my brother in gchat. He deliberately destroyed whatever he could not sell.

And my machine is very well protected. I have NOD32 and AVG running all the time and updating. My password is stupidly long and complicated too :P Problem is I sometimes play from a friends machine or my brothers machine.

Well, I guess I'll be leveling my shammy this weekend >.<

I am very sorry to hear of your plight. I have read for years of things like this happening. I'm not sure how things like this happen and it worries me what can I do to keep it from happening to me. I have an alpha-numerical password. Hope that helps.

Anyway, again, I am sorry to hear of your situation and I hope all works out in the end and the GMs actually help you in your quest to recover your gear / gold.

This happened to me last year. I petitioned a GM and got most of my important gear back. I lost a lot of the crafting materials (stone, bars, ore, etc) and misc junk I was toting around (food, grays, etc). I also don't think I got all my gold back. It took about a week for that character to be restored.

I don't know about PvP marks or honor. But one thing which I found useful was that all of my previously equiped BoE's were returned to me non-soulbound. So some of the items I had outgrown I was able to AH or send to my alts.

A little something one of my guildies posted to help the people who got their accounts hacked.

A little guide to help guildies in the case of your account being compromised. Its safe to say your account can be hacked even without the presence of a Trojan virus on your pc.

First, contact the Billing Department to have the e-mail address registered to the account changed. This is the MOST important step.

Billing & Account Services

US Phone Support - 1 (800) 59-BLIZZARD
Live Representatives Available Mon-Fri, 8am to 8pm PST

Australian users should call 1-800-041-378 if the above number doesn’t work.

Singaporean users should call 1-800-2549-9273 if the above number doesn’t work.

Then follow through with retrieving your password.

Once that has been done, you should be able to log back in, and from there, report any losses you may accrued via in-game petition or e-mail to wowgm@blizzard.com. If it appears that your account had been closed, contact Account Administration by e-mailing wowaccountadmin@blizzard.com.

Hey guys.

Update: Blizzard has currently suspended both my accounts for some reason. Trying to get more information from them as to the procedure I need to follow . So thanks Pigeonman for that info!!

Froman - it happened to my US stormrage account. They left Aldaran and Talarasiel with nothing except ~19s between them. they also cleared out my warrior and bank alts banks but didnt have time to delete my warriors pvp gear thankfully.

In total on my 3 toons on that account I lost ~2.5k gold, 19 Darkmoon cards (been saving them up for months while trying to get the cards cheap), destroyed the 49/23/67 badges I had on my 3 toons and countless stacks of herbs/ore/pots/food etc that I had been saving for raiding. I have 4 banks all with full slots and 16/18 slot bags and they sold everything in all of it including the bags. There is no way I am going to be able to give blizzard a full list of what I had.

But anyway. I plan on canceling my account for a while as 14 hour work days made playing lately practically impossible.

That happend to my brother 14 days ago. I was playing in deep night on my char and I saw brother's main char log on, but he was sleeping next to me. I was surpised, woke him up and ask if he told somebody his pass, he said not. So I finally knew his acc was stoled(hacked). We conctacted blizz. For 4 days they reset his pass and suspended acc.

He got some T4 items, gloves, head slot and shoulders, some kara items etc. Now he can play. He is totaly naked, without gold, his bank cleared too. They also deleted two his alts. GM told us is still in solution and please us for patience. I think they should give him all his items, they must have this saved in some database. Account was hacked for 5 days, char was all the time in shadow labyrint, only for few minutes log off. If some friend whisper him, he answer in some asian language. Im with him in one guild and that happend two guys from our guild at the same time.

Second one, ... lost about 2.5k and all his items. But in this case they dont changed pass. He dont told this to blizz, so he definitely lost everything what he has.

Guys I thought hacking acc is not usually, but I see I was wrong, damn all this ppl.

and really sorry for my english, but I must reply to this thread...

One of our MT's (paly's) decided to play a prank on us. He logged his toon off in Slabs, and would log on occasionally and not respond. He claimed he lost 1k gold, but was with us to attempt illidan that night. lol He did this for a few days, even ignored phone calls from other guildies and stuff. It was priceless.

I'm not too sure how they hack the account if you use play wow at home and don't give out the info. I know a few people in my guild go to cafe's to play and they do the whole key logging thing. It sux, but you gotta be careful when you do that stuff.

My GM got his account hacked and then Blizz banned it. He tried Customer Service and stuff and they refused to un-ban his account. Blizz can be very difficult but I can't really blame them because with 10 million accounts...one is bound to be hacked at anytime.

I had this happen to a bro of mine. He got hacked 3 times before he finally found the key logger on his comp. He quit playing for about 3 months to cool off from the ordeal. He didn't get any BoE drop items back that he had bought and put on the toon but However they did replace most of the quest items he had occured.

They have specific rules on what they can give back. Usually it's only the items that you cannot get again or are really hard to replace. (not as in money value wise) I don't know if that has changed but my friend has already said he won't play anymore if he gets hacked again.

Status update (for those interested): Blizzard has still not done anything. I still have not even received an email from them even.

What I would like to know: does anyone know a number that I can use to call Blizzard. The 1-800 number is only usable in the states and I live in South Africa... Can't find a number anywhere on the site.

Will appreciate all help.

Thanks in advance

Get Skype and call them. It's not that expensive. Other than that, I don't really know what else to tell ya. Oh, if you don't like skype, use another VOIP program. Best of luck!

LOL froman. I have indeed had one of my accounts restored. They restored all the souldbound stuff but nothing else. So all those gems (~15 Rare gems), cards, herbs, ore etc of which I had a ton are still gone. Not really expecting to get them back and blizzard did restore ~75% of my gold so I am not complaining to much.

Just a little irritable that I had almost 2 full darkmoon decks (lunacy and storms) and 9 Stars of Elune which I was waiting to cut for my tanking set. Those gems would have put me at close to 15k unbuffed hp on my druid. Not too great but not terrible either especially as I have about 36% dodge, 2k AP and 28k armour when I am feral...

Warriors gear was all restored but the mats I had been saving for my Mongoose/Potency enchants are gone too.

Anyway, just glad to be able to play again!
See ya around all
