I understand, my whole point is that in that thread, it had to been a lot more than just one person rating you down in it for some reason. I haven't even looked at the thread but I'm just assuming you possibly said something that people hated (for some odd reason).

Go read it. I'm sorry, but there is just no way anyone could rate that down for any reason other than a vendetta.

If I felt like it, I could rate down every post I came across with a poster whose name has more than 3 vowels for a day.

Instead of asking us "why does someone feel I deserve to be default," maybe you should ask yourself "why do I deserve to be decent?" Because right now all this thread is, is a massive karma whine. You contacted an admin; if someone was camping you, then they got dealt with, and if they weren't, then multiple people think you're an idiot. Either way, quit trolling for rate-ups.

I rated down every post of yours in this thread, FYI. Unless you have some proof someone is actually camping you - and probably even then - I don't care to hear your "omgz someone is trying to make me sub-scholar!1!" whining. Karma is meaningless, embrace it.

Man, you guys need to chill.

Gaudion gets rate downs often.
He should be quite used to it by now.

Gaudion also gets rate ups often.
He's probably used to that too. His name is blue, after all.

Recently there are some threads here that are asking for posters' opinions on whatever. It's not asking for "facts" and Gaudion is giving opinions where facts are due-- it's that he's simply participating in the spirit of the posts.

And he's getting rated down on those posts too. Whine about karma-whining all you want, guys, but it'd be annoying to me if there was someone trying to (ultimately) sub-D my every word into obscurity (not everyone gets rid of their filter) if I often gave good advice.

Well Gaudion, at least now you know who's doing it...

However, again, when I look over this thread and see that someone(s) have, since just yesterday, taken the time to scroll through and rate every one of my posts down, I don't need a victim's complex to know that one person or several people are trying to grind my karma into obscurity.

Well, that was probably me. Or me and Quor, which is also possible; I think I hit the up button on one of them, but I'm not sure.

Karma whine posts are one of the very, very small sets of posts where I take the time to rate people; I think I gave a few people rateups for trying to inject some reality into the situation, and ratedowns for people playing into the paranoid fantasy you've generated for yourself. C'mon, people, it's like telling the homeless guy on the corner that the CIA really is out to get him; it might seem amusing now, but that validation of the crazy is going to haunt you later. You and the five people at the McDonalds when McCrazy comes in with a pistol and a bone to pick with the evil CIA operatives working there to make his life miserable.

Oh, hi.

No, I'm not the one. However, building on Nocturnal's comment, I'd like to add that sometimes you do come off as a pompous prick. Especially back when you decided to convince me that Warlocks > Shamans in any given situation. I still don't agree with you on it, but I decided to back out because it turned into a ***** fight.

I'm a pacifist when it comes to a great many things, especially online ***** fights. I'm not the one rating you down, but I'd understand if someone got offended by a comment of yours and decided to silently return the favor.

For the record, I was rated to default around 1,000 posts or so. Got scholar back at around 5,000 posts and I've stayed here since then. It's really no big deal. Your fans will make sure you don't drop below scholar and unless you care a lot about rating others, scholar doesn't matter that much.

It's just a different color.

Mazra - it just sounds to me like you're taking an opportunity to continue the "***** fight" here and then pretend you're taking the higher ground. And to pretend that you're above the "***** fight" assumes that the posters here haven't read threads that disagree with you. To see you try to stake out some high ground here just makes me laugh.

I think from here on out that panda avatard will be known as the Passive-Aggressive Panda.

So, I'm thinking of rolling a shaman so I came to the shaman board and now I feel pretty confident that I'll be camping this guy Gauidon till he's no longer a scholar. Oh, I might roll a shaman, too.

Guess you busted my motives wide open there. I mean, me giving Gaudion advice? Get outta here!

Smiley: rolleyes

Actually, no, I'm not interested in continuing the discussion. Gaudion made this thread, not I. The only thing I did was explain why someone might've taken it upon himself to smite Gaudion with furious vengeance.

In essence, all I did was say the same as Nocturnal, albeit not in the same manner. I don't have a problem with Gaudion anymore. A lot of his posts have helped me a great deal and everyone's entitled to their own opinion about things. I believe I've also rated some of his posts up both to counter the ratedowns and because his posts helped me.

I don't hold a grudge for long. A lot of people could learn from that. And yeah, that's a holier than thou attitude, but seriously, if you hold a grudge on the internet, I am holier than thou.

You make asinine comments like that and then you wonder why people karma bomb the **** out of you. Meh...you had it coming and probably deserve more of it. Only this time, I hope the, "awwww Gaudion's got a bloody **** for being a loudmouth" crowd won't come around and give you sympathy rate-ups to nurse your rightfully bruised ego back to fighting form.

Keep QQing.

Aurelius what is it with you and this 'QQ' nonsense? Seriously, nobody says that except former Grand Marshall/High Warlord PVP addicts and ten year olds. In the font used by Alla it doesnt even look like what it's meant to look like for goodness sake.

As far as I see it, as an irregular Alla poster who landed a blue name almost by accident, Gaudion has a genuine grievance from a human perspective. Someone is serially downvoting his posts in a (juvenile, irrelevant, ineffectual) attempt to somehow annoy him. The fact that it has annoyed him can be taken as either a normal human reaction or a victory for his antagonist.

Either way, I have the following to say; post Karma means NOTHING. Gaudion's name is respected in a way mine isnt because, 'asinine' comments or not, he generally tries to see other people's perspectives whereas I'd tell you to go f*ck yourself. It doesnt matter what colour his name is, people will still listen to what he has to say.

To the person doing it (or persons considering doing it, copycat-fashion), I say this: post Karma is something you can get back, it is a (meaningless but) replenishable resource. Time on the other hand, is not. You have a fixed amount of seconds from birth to death, and you are wasting yours by anonymously spiting a stranger on the internet who, and may I be clear, ultimately doesnt give a damn about you.

Seconds of your life for annoying someone you don't know? Thats a bad deal.

So I had looked at the suggestion thread and I have no clue what you're talking about Gaudion.

Every post of yours I see is excellent, minus one that's.... *gasp* decent, which is your default rating anyway as a scholar.

Edit: Sorry, you have one good one too.

"First time caller, Long time listener"

I run a 70 NE Druid (Caladin) and a 70 Draenei Shaman (Caladan), both into Kara/Entry ZA, so I am constantly checking the forums for useful information that I can use to better my gear and my playstyle. I find it somewhat disappointing to see Druids Forum on the Up and Up progression wise and helping each other out when I turn to the Shamans (Plural?) Forum and see threads like this or the "Lock > Shaman thread" that ran on endlessly/needlessly. This post here in the Shaman Forum just seems to follow that needless thought process. I am sure I am not the only one who turns to the "More Learned WoW-crafters on these forums to learn to play better. It's just rather discouraging to see threads like this that pop up and take more time/attention from what is already something of an "underdog class." Mind you, I am not bashing the Shaman Class, I love my Shaman and have played all 3 specs with it (including variations), I am just stating the obvious and none too subtle undertone in the Shaman forums.

Gaudion, I read alot of your posts while perusing through here. When you do post useful information, it is quite helpful. You should wear the title "the Invidious", not me. And that's not a bad thing, it's refreshing to see someone just lay it out bluntly. But to see you take this much effort to rant on and on about your "Karma" really lessens my opinion of you. Why would you bother so much about a "Karma" score because someone has it out for you? I expected to see it happen from my watching post long before now. It happens, let the admin take care of it, that is what they are here for.

I'm just stepping out of obscurity because to be honest, I would love to see the Shaman forum show something other then "QQ" threads or "What if" threads. We see how many posts you people make each and every time you post. We know whom is worth just scrolling past and whom is worth listening to. Alot of those like me who come to this forum to read up do so in hopes we will find something of use that might give us something more of an edge on our "underdog" class. And generally, we are gonna look to those with who are on here posting all the time because, hey, obviously you might have a little more know how then then others of us if you're taking the time to post this much.

As I've seen gurus posting initially at good or excellent, scholars posting initially at decent or good and non-ranks posting initially at default or decent I've always assumed that your post rounds to the nearest number based on your overall karma, so a scholar could be above 3.5 but below 3.66 (the lowest score for sage) and be posting at good initially. I could be making this all up of course but to post as a non-rank at "default" you'd have to have overall karma <2.5 else you'd be decent.

Have a wander round the quest and item posts and you'll see new non-rank posters posting at decent, meaning that default isn't quite as default as decent :P

It's true, I was posting at "good" for about two months before turning green.
