A question from a sub-20 rogue.Follow

I have a question.

Am I better off putting a poison on my off-hand and sharpening my main hand? I would think that this would help increase my SS and overall damage more than poisons would.

Let me know if I'm right/wrong about this pls. Would be nice to know for when I hit 20.

I think you'll be better off with poisons, although I can't remember which ones you get at 20.

Keep the sharpening stones for when you run out of poisons. Which shouldn't ever happen.
But just in case, anyway.

Or you could try two sharpened, one poison/one sharpened, and two poisons and see which combo has the highest dps.

only use grinding stones if the mobs resist poisons. this is pretty rare now a days, but it can happen. i remember gnomergan used to be poison resistant, might still be now. some elementals say immune still too.

So the extra damage from instant poison is better than +damage for the mainhand?

I respect what theo says, but anyone have numbers to prove it? I love reading them, I'm just the suxs at putting them together.

At 70, there's a +12 dmg sharpening stone.

IP does ~200 damage per proc.

At 20% proc rate per swing, you're basically doing ~40 damage per swing.

IP wins.

Solid, solid advice. I don't have specific numbers but I do recall being a little surprised at how much better IP was at 20 than the stones I was using up to then. It was a great boon to xp/hour.

And I still keep a adamantite stone in my bag for heroics/raiding. There are a few times when it's a good idea to switch over even with the 2.4 changes.
