I recently hit 70 on my mage and I'm trying to get him geared and spec'ed properly for heroics and eventually raids down the road.

I'm currently working on completing my spellfire set and gemming it to increase my hit rating. After that, I'll most likely concentrate on getting the spell strike set.
Do you guys have any suggestions that I can use? I like being fire but I'm not quite seeing as much damage as I think should be. I think my spec is probably the main cause of that.

go ahead and finish off the Spellfire set like you mentioned and then go for the Spellstrike set, you wont need to worry about replacing those sets for a long time to come imo.
Gem the items with spell hit (great dawnstone or veiled noble topaz for instance) and remember not to be overly concerned with meeting the socket bonus, a few extra +Sta isnt really worth it.
Dont forget enchants such as Exceptional stats for chest, Spellstrike or Spellpower for Hands, Ring and the Major spellpower for the weapon. try the Glyph of Power for the spellstrike hood once you get it.
In terms of talents, if heroics and raiding is what you're after then you could respec to the traditional 10/48/3 or the newly hyped 2/48/11 to get Icy Veins. See below for example for talents:

Your spec is most certainly the cause of that. As ssgrif suggested, you'll find more damage with a more cookie cutter build. This isn't to say that your talent spec is bad, necessarily, but you've made many utility choices that are hurting your damage. The least useful of these for anything but PvP is probably Molten Shields, closely followed by Imp fireblast. Even if you make no other changes, I'd suggest taking the points from there and maxing out Ignite(this is one of your most important talents, max it out) and Playing with Fire.
That alone will be a decent damage increase. Adding in the Icy Veins portion of the raid build will add a bit more, but if you love your build, those are the things I'd bet you can most live without.
Additionally, enchants wouldn't hurt(there are cheap enchants that will help, at the least, such as crit to gloves). Neither would getting some kind of Metagem. Chaotic Skyfire is my favorite, though there's something to be said for the new gem(can't remember its name) and Mystical Skyfire Diamond is the strongest(though I like it least because of the gemming requirements).
Edit: Also, get revered with the Sha'tar as soon as you can and replace that Darkmoon Card: Twisting Nether with a Xi'ri's gift, post haste. Alternatively, and even better, get revered with the Scryers and get the Scryer's Bloodgem.

After getting nerfed again this patch I really don't like it as much as before. Proc doesn't cut it close to half of cast time anymore, not even .4 cast time off my frostbolt (17/0/44 arena spec atm). I would go with the Chaotic Skyfire for now, personally.
