Vs Ice mage/Sub RougeFollow

#1 Apr 01 2008 at 8:46 PM Rating: Decent
Hi, I'm an arms warrior and I'm paired with a holy paladin for 2v2. Both our gear sports more than 370 resil and we are hovering at about 1680 rating. The problem we are facing is that every time we fight a frost mage/sub rogue team, we get utterly destroyed.
Anyone like to share some insights and tips as to how we should go about fighting them?

Spamstring the Rogue and have the Paladin pillarhump as much as possible, but you're pretty boned with that combo.

Have your paladin go on the offensive if he can and shock/judge the rogue. Try and put him on the defensive.

That will most likely fail but it's the best you can do without getting a new partner.

Should I kill the water elemental?

You always want to try and kill the elemental when you can. They put out a lot of extra damage and it's two extra novas for the mage to use. You can always try and LoS the pet to get it into a position where you can kill it.

Scenario 1
I played Warrior/Druid in the 2500's and some pretty ****** Fmage/Rogue combos still beat us. But as pally/warrior you shouldn't really have that much of a problem. Stick your *** on the rogue and keep yourself glued to him. Don't randomly disarm the rogue, wait for clutch moments to disarm the rogue( i.e when your pally is getting low, you sense a kidney shot coming). Don't trinket out of anything besides blind, and tell your paladin to keep freedom for himself if they are zerging him. Watch for shatter combos, if you see your paladin is stunned and the mage is charging up a frostbolt, intercept the mage and intervene back to your pally and get on the rogue. The mage will blink, but you saved a **** ton of damage on your pally.

Scenario 2
If they are zerging you, put on a 1h and shield and go defensive stance and tank the **** out of them. Make sure to keep up SR and shield block whenever and don't forget to disarm the rogue when needed.

Good luck.

I mean, if it wasn't mage/rogue

You can sword and board it for most of your casters that actually cast spells, for example, lock with sb's (if you notice they cast them), mages with anything, the rare elemental shaman...

Basically with that combo in the OP, you should just /cry and get it over with. Oh..the water elementals are easy to kill and are a mess if you dont. GL

Mechpriest, any new videos to watch on your warrior?? Or have you rick rolled a new toon?

So when I go sword and board, should I just shield block and spell reflect and disarm until their momentum dies out or still try to dps? And should I use my merciless gladiator's cleaver + bulwark of the amani empire or use the kinds defender instead?

You saw my video? I'm not really sure if you've seen this one yet, it's the second one and it's still from a really long time ago, just when season 2 came out.

I'll be coming out with a new video soon on purely arena, but here's my 2nd video.

And i would use merciless cleaver and bulwark, and basically you should ALWAYS pull out a sword and board when you get around 20 - 30% and go D stance. For frost mage/rogue though, if you see a shatter combo coming immediately go D and try to SR. You'll get the hang of when to switch to D as time goes on.

Yeah, I think I've seen both videos. I think you posted on here a long time ago about your videos or something. I'm looking forward to your Arena videos. I'll never be good enough for PvP as I like fury too much, but watching someone with great class mechanics is always a plus!
