Stealing HoTsFollow

My main question is this:

Would it ever be considered worth it in one-on-one combat or 2v2 arena to spam Spellsteal on Druid HoTs if Lifebloom is up?

When a Lifebloom is put up, the final heal WILL be done regardless. The question is if you will let the ticks go on and have it happen after 7 seconds, or if you will grab those tiny ticks and have them heal him/herself for that final heal immediately.

If a druid puts up Lifebloom and Rejuvenation, Spellstealing looks like it wouldn't be that bad an idea from where I can see. I could end up stealing a fat, juicy Rejuvenation, or accidentally shatter that Lifebloom (does the mage get Lifebloom successfully still? Or is it "lost" on the Spellsteal because it procced for the druid?), or maybe accidentally end up with a Mark of the Wild or Thorns.

Unlike the other three heal-capable classes, a significant amount of the druid's healing can be stolen for a mage's use. But is it advisable? Or is it better to just burn up your mana bursting the druid down with damage?

I don't have very extensive pvp experience, on balance I'd probably say leave the LBs alone and save spell steal for something more interesting (I once stole an innervate by accident, probably the best moment of my mages brief pvp time).

In favour of stealing LB is that the end heal has had it's co-efficient reduced, so it will heal the druid for a bit less than pre-patch.

Downsides are that LB costs 220 or something mana to cast and spellsteal is around 600 if I remember correctly (% of base mana, but definately >220 last i checked). So, you'll still be letting the druid heal, using more of your mana than they are using of theirs and not doing any damage to them.

Unless you're just keeping the druid busy while your team mate kills them, or will die without the heal then I wouldn't bother trying to steal LB.

Well, I'm actually talking more about stealing the actual Regrowths and Rejuvenations. The Lifebloom is the risk which stops us from spellstealing.

Also, Spellsteal is now 448 mana IIRC, because of the new patch. But it's still noticeably more expensive than Lifebloom, yeah.

Unless they're spamming Lifebloom on themselves, my question is really if spell-steal spam is not a bad idea to take off the Rejuvs and Regrowths even if Lifebloom is on.

Spellsteal has three uses against a druid.

If you are attempting to burst down a druid or his partner its usually a good idea to spellsteal the rejuv if the druid or his partner is getting low. The hope is that spellstealing the rejuv will ***** up the druids swiftmend and give you enough time to either burst one of them down or make him blow NS + HT.

If you are running double DPS and it looks like you are not going to be able to burst the druid and his partner down, you should be spellstealing rejuv to heal yourself at every opportunity.

Spellstealing innervate looks great on paper, but it has limited uses. Even if you spellsteal a druid, he will probably have enough time to drop combat and drink. Spellstealing innervate does have uses, its just situational and should not be done without thinking.

I love stealing HoTs whether they're off the druid or off the person the druid is healing. With them I can usually last a good while longer + thats heals that im getting and not the enemy. conjured mana emerald anyone? who cares what the mana cost is... you can get like 3-6 spell steals in for the use of 1 emerald. and then you've got like 4 HoTs on you and you never die muhaha.

Except Lifebloom DOES heal the enemy if dispelled or stolen.

I have been stealing HoTs a lot lately. Very nice in 2v2 arena, I take the heals while my MS War partner downs one of them (with my water ele helping). It does use alot of mana to constantly spam the spell steal, but once one is down I usually have time to evocate and we can down the other quickly.

It is also fun to do in BGs on flag carriers and such, plus mana isn't as much of an issue since you will just die and be full on mana.
