Wich poison to apply to MH?Follow

Typically I have allways coated my MH with instant poison and offhand with deadly poison for PvE and maybe crippling poison on MH and deadly on off hand for PvP...

My thoery allways being that hitting my opponents with the shiv periodically will keep the deadly poison applied and stacked at all times, keeping the damage rolling... however... I have noticed a good bit of players with the deadly on the MH and crippling or instant on OH... am I just bass ackwards? Surely there is a reson for this... discuss please....

IIRC, for PvE you want Deadly on the MH and Instant on your OH because your MH will hit on normal swings and specials m which should be enough to keep a 5 stack up. The extra attacks you get with your OH will benefit more from Instant.

Since your OH speed is usually around 1.5, you are actually applying more poison than necessary if you use Deadly on your OH. Check the rogue spreadsheet to see how changing your poisons will effect your DPS.

For PvP, I put Crippling on my OH because you only need it to apply once, and again,it is overkill ot have it on your MH.

With deadly poison on my MH I always have deadly capped at 5 on bosses and sometimes even on trash, depending on how long it takes to bring them down. Instant on OH means those extra poison procs actually add to damage.

And shiv is almost worthless in pve.

Usually Deadly on main, indeed. If there is going to be a lot of target switching and CC then sometimes I'll change to Instant. And, rarely, I'll even go with Wound for some bosses.

But I tend to rotate the off-hand poisons far more often depending on the upcoming mobs. Cripple probably the most often to slow any rare "I'm done hitting the tank and now I want to gnaw on the healer" activity. Sometimes this gives the tank time to refocus the attention of the mob. Also mind-numbing can be great. It was on a lot last night in MgT for instance.

Don't be afraid to adapt your poisons to the situation. And not just the boss/trash, but your group make-up and play styles can factor in as well. I even once had to resort to the lower threat poison in a PUG... what a terrible, terrible run. /facepalm

In PvP--and correct me if I'm wrong here--but I tend to Shiv crippling. Using deadly/wound on main usually. But I'm a PvP novice, at best.

I used to put deadly MH/instant OH for PVE but I thought I read from Theo and others to put Instant MH/deadly OH?

For PVP, Wound MH/crippling OH is the standard. Although you can put mind numbing instead of wound if you know you're facing a lot of casters but crippling stays OH.

I thought you only moved deadly yo OH if you were getting WF.

Smiley: confused

Then again, I have never been in a raid situation, so what the hell do I know?

I really do not think there is much difference on which hand you use Deadly. The frequency of hitting with either hand is about the same (at least for non-dagger builds). Maybe even for dagger builds.
As usuall, the spreadsheet should be able to tell what is better.

Edit: I just checked on my sheet, and deadly on OH is 1dps better. This is tri-hemo swords T4+ build.

Yeha, for my combat dagger build IP MH/DP OH is 0.02 dps more than DP OH/IP MH :-)

I wish I had a Enh Shammy in my party :-(

In pvp i put crip MH/ deadly OH, with so many warriors running around I shiv them to 5, rupture, and keep shiv'in to avoid the insane armor with vegetable damage.

Instant MH, Deadly OH.

With WF, drop instant.

If anyone wants to argue the incredibly easy math with me, go for it, but you're wrong.

And this explains why you're in the 1300s.

I never did that incredibly easy math, but according to the spreadsheet of rogue.raidcal.com, Instant OH + Deadly MH does more damage (at least with my gear).

My rogue alt (lvl 63 now, combat swords) recently got the Envenom finisher, so I started putting deadly on both weapons to rack up quick 5-point envenoms.

Bad idea? Is envenom even worth using? I think my biggest problem is I am using the 2.1 speed Footman's Longsword (the HH sword) in my OH because I can't find anything better.

Envenom sucks.

You're better off letting the deadly tick away and use rupture or eviscerate.

Stick to Instant and Deadly in groups. Solo I keep both instant.
