Shard of Contempt...Follow

I have just started running the Magister Terrace and it’s been a both fun and frustrating. We have been doing it on heroic for a few times now but the lag/sever crashes/all day honour updates, have caused my groups grief each time, and have never gotten that far. I was reading up on drops from the 3rd boss, (not quite got her down yet) and saw this little trinket…

Shard of Contempt

Binds when picked up
Unique
Trinket
Requires Level 70
Equip: Chance on hit to increase your attack power by 230 for 20 seconds.
Equip: Increases your expertise rating by 44.

I've read that the Expertise Rating does bugger all for ranged DPS, but the proc seems very nice!

I was wondering if any one has been able to pick up one of these and see how they fair…? Proc rate? DPS increase? Etc…. Any info would be great.

A rogue in my raid has this beauty.
Don't get it with your hunter however, you don't need expertise rating and thus ~80% of the item's budget is wasted on stats useless to us hunters.
This trinket is really cool for rogues, warriors and perhaps feral druids. For those it is one of the best trinkets in game.
If you want a cool trinket with an AP proc, go for this one.
The Hourglass is better. Crit > Expertise rating for hunters. And the AP buff is also rather strong.
Apart from this I expect the Shard to be nerfed (I expect the duration of the AP proc will be nerfed at least). Expertise alone is godly, but the additional AP make it a really really strong trinket for melee classes which beates nearly every other trinket, even those from black temple.

From what i've heard it has an insane procrate though, making it better then the hourglass due to the amount of uptime it has.

The uptime is quite good (~40%), but it's still not worth getting as a Hunter. It's essentially a ~90 AP passive trinket without a clicky effect - you're much better off with, say, a Bloodlust Brooch or Hourglass than you would be with the Shard.

It's obscene for melee DPS (and non-Protadin tanks), though. I finally got mine after six runs.

Thanks guys,

I do currently have the hourglass and the bloodlust broach, was just curios on the proc rates and the likes, considering the buff its self last 20 secs over that of the hourglasses 10 secs. With only 70 attack power less for twice the proc'ed time, was weighing up the loss of the 32 to crit strike rating.

/Sigh, could have been such an amazing hunter trinket... curse that expertise rating stat....

Don't let any melee hear you saying that. It's one of the two best trinket until halfway through Sunwell Plateau.

I've ran heoric MgT almost everyday since a week after 2.4 on my Rogue and finally it drops yesterday.

Lost roll to a hunter and had the tank argue with me saying I had no rights rolling because "expertise isn't a rogue stat, it should go to a hunter before me". At that point I lost all hope for our tank :/
