From the stats I have seen on wowwiki:

Assassination Rogues: 57% Scryer, 43% Aldor
Combat Rogues: 40% Scryer, 60% Aldor
Subtlety Rogues: 45% Scryer, 55% Aldor

I'm a combat swords rogue and I chose Aldor for the Vindicator's Brand and the shoulder enchants.

On a somewhat related note, I thought that taking the Dustbat Drape cloak (from the level 50 rogue quest) would allow me to jump off the Aldor Tier. It doesn't, and I go splat :) At least I do at level 62 - can higher level rogues jump off at all?

Aldor, always.

And I'm a Scryer (there was little guessing when I got to Shat at 60 on my rogue that crit builds would be totally nerfed by resilience, as they really weren't until halfway through S1 or the beginning of S2).

Is it worth farming aldor rep if I could farm honor for s1 sword?

No.The amount of hp you lose from landing (it's not the falling that kills you but when you stop falling) is a percentage of your maximum hp, based on the distance fallen and modifiers such as Safe Fall and gear.

So falling from Aldor tier will always kill you but Scryer tier will never kill someone who's at max health.

S1 sword does not come from Aldor rep.

Farm for S1 sword if you're Scryer. If you're Aldor, still farm for the S1 sword, though with both you need to get exalted to get your shoulder enchant.

Edit: only engineers can fall off of Aldor tier and still live (people exalted with the Skyguard too). Parachute Cloak > fall damage.

I think they meant either farming honor for the s1 or farming aldor rep (possibly) for the vind brand?

At least that's what I gathered from what he siad.

OK thanks for that info. I had always assumed that the damage was a fixed amount based on the distance of the fall, not a percentage of your maximum hit points.

Thus far, the only really good thing I've gotten from Aldor is the shoulder enchant. The time investment into getting enough rep for Vindicators Brand compared to BG honor for the s1 weapons is a no-brainer.

Am I crazy, or do only casters really "need" to focus on Aldor/Scryer rep? Both my meleers have better options that are simpler to obtain elsewhere. While at the same time, my lock is wringing his hands in anticipation.

You're dumb if you think you can get by without maxing out Aldor/Scryer rep. You need an exalted shoulder enchant.

I should be more clear: The shoulder enchants are awesomeness. Pure awesomeness. But so far I haven't really needed anything else from the faction rewards for my melee toons but those. The armor and weapons from other sources seem to easily out-pace the rep rewards when time and effort are compared (for instance: s1 weapons compared to Vindicator's Brand). On the other hand, there are several faction rep items that--for their level and attainability--seem vital for my up-and-coming caster.

I'm not trying to get outta the effort. Just noticing that (mainly on my rogue) it's basically rep-grinding for one item. Like the head enchant from CE and several other things.

Also note that I asked "Am I crazy..." first. Which, apart from being wrong I probably am.
