Why did you roll a paladin?Follow

#27 Mar 31 2008 at 8:37 PM Rating: Good
I leveled my lock to 70 and got tired of the PVP grind. I wanted to play something that was polar opposite. My current paladin is only level 21 but so far so good. I am learning a lot here and from playing and I may make a decent paladin someday.

Wasn't Cecil a Black Knight though? Could change at one point, I never got far into that one.

I started playing a pally for some reason that goes beyond even me. I made a female BElf when BC came out, and Paladin was the default selection. I made her only to check out her jokes and other vocal emotes. Next thing I know, Prince is smacking me in the face as I'm throwing a shield at him. Funny how things work int his world.

Cecil was a Black Knight until he went up a mountain, talked to some moon people (his dad, a Lunar), and defeated his own dark side (you had to fight yourself) to become a Paladin. Then he became an unstoppable killing machine for the next 10-20% of the game.

Because in order to have a 70 of every class...one needs to have a Pally, duh....

I rolled the first one because I liked the idea of being a healer. So I leveled to 40 Holy specced and it was s l o w. I decided "I need to switch specs" and leveled to 60 Ret specced. It seemed a bit faster, but I could not keep up with my lock friend. Switched at 60 to Holy for one level, then back to Ret, then Holy at 70.

So, I never experienced Prot, and really did the whole leveling thing backwards. I decided I didn't want to just go out and re-spec to Prot and effectively be no different than someone who just bought his toon on ebay. So I'm in the process of leveling number two. He's Ret specced now and when he hits 35ish (L27 now) he's getting re-specced to Prot. All in all, he's having fun right now, and I have to say he's got some mojo!

I've been a Paladin ever since I played FFIV (FFII American) and I loved that game, and Cecil was an awesome character and he was a Paladin. Then in D&D I played a Paladin, and in WoW I now play a Paladin. Something about the class just speaks to me. I couldn't do Paladin in FFXI though, just didn't work for me.

Actually, the easiest way to defeat your own dark side was to sit back and do nothing. You won by default after a bit if you didn't fight back, iirc.

Why did you roll a paladin?

Because I had written a backstory for my main, and it had her having younger sisters, twins, a paladin and a warlock. So I made the character in game to go with the character in the backstory. She was my flag running twink at 19 for a while, then my healing twink at 29. Finally, when my guild at the time needed healers, I leveled her up. Then I got to the point where she wasn't needed, and I don't play her much anymore(other than to do dailies for some cash).

I started out the game with a resto druid on a pvp server. Which was somewhat hard to say the least.

I'd heard that paladins were really good healers at 60 and useful for buffs and also that they had great survivability. So I picked my first alt, a holy paladin... it definately had more survivability than my resto druid (in resto gear for levelling too), but it wasn't exactly the most exiting class to level.

A little while later after rerolling to a new realm server transfers became available and I brought my paladin and original druid over for more options (my second druid that was meant to be a healer having been turned into my tank).

Due to healer shortages in guild I levelled my paladin to 70 and got her geared up for Kara.

I do like my paladin, tried a bit of tanking on her which was fun and am working on a ret kit as I might try levelling her as ret in WotLK (I considered respeccing ret for 60-70 but the talents didn't seem all that interesting, so i stayed holy). She'll probably always gravitate towards a healing role unless there are major changes in talents/gear availability, but my Paladin will always be my alt class. It's the only one I've levelled that I've never considered as a main character.

Yeah I know, just didn't feel like going that much into it. I didn't even know it was possible to beat your dark side until much later in life (every time I tried I failed horribly).

lets see... i had a 60 priest, warrior and hunter already. Alla guild started up on anetheron in april of '06 and I rolled a mage. Got to like 12 and was bored, so then i said i was gonna make a paladin. Something totally different. Well paladin is freaking awesome for the first 40 levels or so leveling, especially on a PvP server, that i was able to stick with it for quite a while. Then i saw the light at the end of the tunnel and just leveled all the way to 60. Only reason i rolled it though was because it was different.

I gotta say, people who raid at 70 as a pally and didnt raid at 60 are very lucky. Paladins are at a much better place now. All trees are much, much better.

Also I rolled my paladin because it was as close as I would get to a feral/resto druid in the game. For some reason I just can't seem to stick to my druid I don't konw why...

And also I tried a shaman got him to equal level of my paladin then I got to some battlegrounds and I noticed that I was dying... and I said to myself that never happens to my paladin this weird 'death' debuff. Maybe shamans arent immune to it like paladins.

So back again to my paladin. =)

Because paladins were the BOMB in Diablo 2, especially after 1.10.

I rolled a Pali because they are so diverse in armor and play type. I love to solo almost anywhere I go and as a pali it allows me to support myself while taking down multiple targets. The only thing that Pali's lack is ranged but their are plenty of ways to draw enemies in my mind they are a awsome pve character to roll.

Why I rolled a paladin.Well just like many posts before.Paladins are...well what they are. Were defenders of the weak.Even the strongest warriors or rogues can't stand up to what a Paladin can.Right now my paladin is only level 24 cause for the past 5 months i've been class jumping.Playing a rogue to 29,mage to 25,druid,lock to 20,war to 2 lol <<< funny. All in all I still come back to the big man himself.Paladin.I love healing and doing damage. So we can do as much damage persay as a rogue 1 on 1.But we can out live them all.I'm having trouble right now on my paladin.I keep being told to go RET for leveling.I've read the RET guide and its for raiding not leveling or solo play.I chose the holy tree cause well i figured thats what paladins were.Holy Knights. But leveling is getting kinda hard cause well i just don't do the damage i want but i make it work and survive.I'm human and my name is Sulvain.Look under armoury and you'll see what i mean.I think i'm going the wrong way with my pally.I think i'm building a Raid spec way to early in the game. But if you have a second take a look and let me know what you think. But I've played a paladin in Diablo II LOD for longest time.Hammerdin FTW! nothing beats them.Played a palading in FFXI level 75.I'm a tank with little healing but can bring say other classes back from the dead lol.I love it.Great defense.Lack of great damage but i'm not going to complain.Just wish i could find a build that will help me.I have like 200gold i've been saving to buy me a set of gear at level 30.Any suggestions for respeccing and Gear would be so helpful my brothers and sisters of the shield.Paladin will always be my number one class. Can't wait to go on raids.Looking forward to it.Ok so i've talked to much and your thinking DAMN shut up.So i'm done.:D peace out.One more thing.Like in ffxi i loved the shield and sword combo. Also loved the 2handed swords to.Sword collector <<< lol

It was basically the opposite of my rogue, so I thought it would be a good alternative when I was bored of the other. I was right about that, quite the opposite.

I actually never really liked paladins in any other game (save FFIV, you can't hate cecil), especially not in FFXI with their white mumu. No, FFXI I was all about the ninja tanking. That made you feel like a god, because it wasn't about enduring hard hits, it was about not taking them in the first place. I've always been more about the rogue, but I'm enjoying the paladin now, and she's nearing 70, I'll probably try her out tanking.

I have a tiny little level 29 Dwarf Paladin(e?) that I use mainly (actually; only) to have fun in Battlegrounds with. I wanted to be a healer, to help my friends' level 29 characters when they go BG-ing. Originally, I was a priest, but I disliked the vulnerability of the class, which is why I became a Paladin.

I also like the "holy warrior" concept that comes with the Paladin class, and it would be interesting to roleplay a Dwarf paladin.

This is my first RPG so I couldn't figure out what charactor to be then it hit me. As a paramedic for more years than I will admit here I thought in real life I wade into disaster and save lives and kick butt. That's as close to what a Paladin does so I went with it.
