What cat is the best to have as a permanent pet? any level. and at lvl 70 how much of a difference will it make from cat to cat?

All cats are the same now. The only difference is the looks of the beast. Lions now have a little roar thing they do. Cats are a DPS beast meaning lower health and armor. So there is no difference at all. Basically you will be picking the best Bite and Claw for the most damage. Sure having Prowl is nice for ambushes and Dash is great to get to the enemy faster, but in the end having more damage via claw and bite will be really useful. Also maxing out health rather than armor is what most hunters use anyways.

PET-RELATED QUESTIONS

What's the best pet?

This is always the first question out of anyone's mouth. Really, there is no best pet, and there's a lot more to know about pets than just "teh best".

If you're lazy and just want an answer, use a BOAR. Boars are good all-around pets, will eat anything, and can use every general skill except Claw.

What's your favorite pet?
What is your pet?

Please don't start another thread on this subject. Honestly, the "favorite pet" threads are getting old and everyone pretty much just the same thing every time. Expect a lot of "cat" answers, a couple "bears", and a few people who try to be original, plus the occasional "I don't like flying pets because they flap in my face," and "I don't like cats because everyone uses a cat."

And I use a cat. A random old generic cat. (Edit: I've been using an owl for the last year.)

How are pets different?

There are three ways pets can differ.

The first is diet. Most beasts eat meat, or meat and fish. Some eat other things. To check a pet's diet, use the Beast Lore ability on it, or if it's already your pet, mouse over the little happiness icon in your pet window.

The second way is abilities. Some pets start with abilities when they are tamed. In fact, this is the only way to learn pet abilities other than growl. Pets are able to learn some skills, but don't usually start with them. However, not every pet can use every skill. For instance, non-flying pets can't learn to Dive, and flying pets can't learn to Dash. There are even some family-specific abilities, like Scorpid Poison (which only Scorpids can use.)

The third is their attributes. Pet statistics are only different in three places:
1) Hit points
2) Armor
3) DPS

Beasts will usually excel at one of those three, be average in a second, and poor in a third; or they will simply be average all-around. The differences in these categories are not huge, either, but enough to affect your gameplay.

All beasts of a certain type and level will be identical. It doesn't matter if you have a polar bear, I have an elite brown bear, and that guy over there has a rotting bear. If they're all level 50, they are all the same.

See Petopia for all you could ever want to know about pets.

All cats/bears/wolves are the same? What about elite pets?

Same answer. Same pet family, same level -> same stats. The one exception is caster pets, which are weaker in all aspects. [There are no cats with caster attributes]

Geeze no need to be rude about it man. A simple explaination is all that was needed. Regardless of not looking through the Stickys some people don't have time to go through several pages worth of info when a 5 minute explaination could be given.

If you don't have time to read a inventory listing, and then look up the post it refers to, you quite simply don't have a need for the information. The stickies were made for this very purpose, answering stupid questions before wasting the time and effort of forum regulars.

If you don't read the stickies, which will answer almost every question of this sort, you are too lazy/retarded/egocentric/stupid to warrant any answer at all.

So yes, he had to answer like that. And before you start ranting about rudeness and such, you obviously haven't spent enough time on forums to recognize real rudeness. He was actually quite tame compared to how most of the regulars would have dealt with the ****** in question.

I have spent plenty of time on forums and I know what rudeness is and what it is not. The only thing most people want is opinions from people about what is the best for this or the best for that. Yes actual information is very valid but some people like to have information given to them via opinions. If you ask me about the question in question I do believe he should have read the stickys but going about it in a different way than saying, "READ THE F'ing STICKYS" could be a little more curtious. Hell the person could have been a newer player to the game and just wanted an opinion. And this is not a rant by anymeans.

This isn't a question about opinion or any of the sort. It is wasting the time and effort both of those who would be answering the question and of those who made the stickies in the first place.

Retards asking other people to do all the research and work for them doesn't deserve a reserved response from me nor anyone else. Mollycoddling these dumbarses will do nothing but reinforce their beliefs that the rest of the world is there merely for their convenience.

These fUckrags who come onto my internet with the attitude that they won't do their own work shouldn't be surprised when they find out that people don't find that shit very funny. I have a low tolerance for stupidity and laziness, and people like you who defend stupidity and laziness are actually worse.

Thank the Gods you softarses don't run much besides the local 7-11s, because the world would have been overrun by moronic, lazy fUckslaps like the original poster.

If people have time to post a thread asking a question, and then wait around for someone to answer, they have MORE than enough time to click the thread that says "EVERY QUESTION ANSWERED HERE" and skim through the index. Oh, and if manually reading the index takes too long, try this: hit CTRL F (Mac: command F) and type in a few keywords from your question. It works in any browser on any platform, and brings up a "find" box. Hell, that's how I found it in the stickey. It took me less than 30 seconds to find what I quoted just by typing in "best pet"
