Ok so I have just been promoted to Hunter class leader, and I have come to our faithful boards to ask some questions.

1. I know that crit for beastmaster hunters in raids is decent but the attack power is the way to go. What about Marksmen and Survival Hunters. I know that Marksmen are more mana efficent when it comes to shots and have a little more "spikey" damage than the consistant Beastmaster macro spam. But what about Survival hunters? They need the crit to apply their Expose Weakness talent debuff, but should they focus more on crit than attack power?

2. What is the general shot rotation for Marksmen and Survival hunters in a raid?

3. Would it be possible for others to supply some different talent builds for me to look at?

Thank you very much for looking at this post. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge that this board has to offer. And that does include the negative people as well :D

Marksmen are terribly mana-inefficient (not that BM is great), though, if you're talking about raiding, they really shouldn't be MM at all...

I was pretty sure that having at least one MM hunter in a raid would benefit melee toons nicely. Having a buff to Attack Power is always nice to have. But I do agree hunters are very mana inefficent MM only adds a little bit of a discount to the build.

I know that in a raid hunters need to have something coming from their bows/guns. So that basically leaves Arcane Shot, Multi Shot, and Steady Shot. Because raiding pre BC you were a ****** for using Aimed Shot while in the middle of combat. BM hunters is the Steady Shot/Auto Shot/Kill Command Macro to insure DPS and generally use a 1:1 or a 3:2 shot ratio. Is it different for other classes. And that info is not in the stickys. I want personal experience and opinion in order for me to tell my hunters to be the most effective they can be.

TSA as a buff is less effective then FI. So, no. MM hunters are never better in raids. If you have one that does a good job, let him stay imo, but I try not to control my hunters. He just will be lower on the list for progression content.

1) Surv - Go AGI AGI AGI AGI.
MM/BM Agility is usually best in 25 man content. it's a balance between crit and AP, but agility is usually better. Get ratingbuster or just look at the numbers and figure it out.

2) 1:1.5 ie: auto steady arcane auto steady auto steady arcane.
You can also use multi if there is no CC

3) Talent builds are in the sticky. We made them, so they represent our opinions.

Keep an eye on TKA for hunter changes and discussion.
You as CL should know what is happening to the hunter class.

1 SV hunter, rest BM is optimal.
As said, if the MM hunter can keep up with the BM keep him else ask him to go BM (41/20 cookie cutter)

Hunters can and should top dps in raids, simply because our dps isnt limited by the tanks threat like every other class.

5/20/36 and 41/20/0 are the standard hunter raidbuilds.
I'd say something like this for MM

shotrotations differ for each spec and even weaponspeed.
awesome thread describing hunter shot mechanics

agility is the way to go for all specs if you can count on BoKings.
Otherwise, its probably still best due to the fact that there are a lot of AP raidbuffs and very few crit ones.
That and mana-ineffeciency are the reason hunters should use elixir of major agility (35 agi, 20 crit) and major mageblood (16 Mp5) or draenic wisdom if MM (30 int and spirit) instead of a flask.
Mana Oils should ofcourse also be used on long fights.

And to finish off, where is your guild in progression?

just a small q: is there any other alternative for mana oils, when it comes to temp weapon buffs?

no.

And they're cheap as hell.... i think its about 3-5g for 1 mana oil, wich has 5 charges that last for 1 hour and persist through death.
There is no excuse for not using them.
