Final Trinket for PvPFollow

#1 Mar 28 2008 at 10:27 PM Rating: Decent
I'm kind of switching between tanking and PvP right now, but I've finally got all of my S1 and some S3 lying around, and I'm just about to get the final trinket. Anyways, I'm looking at the Battlemaster trinkets: Determination and Cruelty (+80 AP and +40 crit respectively) and am wondering which would be better from a PvP perspective. I like having a high crit rating, but on certain classes like locks with super high resil, AP is most likely the better choice. I was also considering the Bloodlust Brooch or Abacus of Violent Odds or another high-end PvE trinket. I'm a 34-24-3 specced Arms Mace warrior. Any input would be awesome, thanks!

Unless you have about 30% + crit in zerker, go for + AP. That's what I would do. As you said yourself, resi gimps crit.

i actually like the trinket from the final boss of heroic blood furnace, the icon of unyielding courage.

lots of +hit rating (which is nice, cause S3 gear has less +hit on it than S2 does) and the on-use effect stacks with executioner, meaning in full S3 minus shoulders im getting a hair under 2k armor pen with executioner and this trinket up. its a great way to make clothies naked without touching sunder.

Right now I have about a 31+% chance to crit in Zerker stance, around 1550 AP. The Icon of Unyielding Courage is an interesting choice, armor penetration does make a huge difference and I really noticed it when I got executioner on my weapon. How much of a difference does Hit Rating make in PvP? Is there a certain number that I should be shooting for? I believe I am sitting at around 60+ Hit rating right now. The way my teams are set up in arena I am rarely the sole target of the DPS, so the +1750 life for 15 seconds of the Battlemaster trinkets doesn't benefit me a large amount, which is why I am looking at other alternatives. Thanks for your input!!

you want 5% to hit for pvp so you dont get any misses (save for the odd ice mage who specs artic winds). anything more than that is useless since all specials, 2h, and 1h+shield attacks have a 5% chance to miss.

however, like i said before, the S3 gear has slightly lower hit than the S2 gear, and the icon helps make up for that. it takes me from about 3.8% hit to 5.3% hit or something, with a nice activated effect.

if u got 80 hit there should be no reason to go higher than that for pvp.

Anyways, I have the same considaration about trinket. Ofc resi makes crit less effective but imo u need crits to to bring down targets fast enough. And higher crit rate means higher crit chance - even if when including resi. + if u got flurry as me u really want to crit even more. Also for deep wound ofc.

On the other hand I was also thinking bout the resi trinket. 34 resi is always nice. And in 3v3 and 2v2 u to get focused fired sometimes. Any thoughts on that?

I have also considered bloodlust but after 2.4 I fint the the 44 expertise trinket from heroic MgT quite interesting - it lowers chance that u r parried or dodged by alot (and on a side note: for pve its the 2nd best dps trinket for fury warriors according to maxdps.com btw). Any thoughts on that?

Oh and a little wishful thinking: wouldnt a chance on hit "ignores xxx resilience for 15secs" trinket be nice (a trinket like executioner just with resi ignore instead^^)

To comment hit rating. You need 79 hit rating to not miss, even with special attacks (i.e. MS).

Armor Penetration makes a great difference killing clothies.

I have always used the +20 resil Talisman of the alliance and the absorb 1k dmg with resil trinkets for pvp, having a way to break fear and heal yourself 1k every 2 mins is awesome, i find no better for those 2 spots in arenas/bg.

If im doing MS pve, then its hourglass/abascus.

If you strictly do BG's, you may get away with 2 DPS trinkets, since there is so many different way's that people can stun/root you, i find my 2 min cooldown on trinket isn't enough :(, and i like to see 7k crits on clothies.

Wouldn't it be so great if 5 sunders in pvp really did make them naked :)

Hello prot pvp. I sundered your armor off, now you have no resl and no armor and no stats!!!!

Just Gem yourself for hit until you get to 79, don't waste your trinket on a piece of **** hit trinket specifically for PvE. to s

It really depends on what bracket you are playing in.

2 v 2: Bloodlust Brooch, Hourglass of the unravaller, Battlemasters.

3 v 3: Bloodlust Brooch, Hourglass of the unravaller, Battlemasters.

5 v 5: Battle Masters.

For 2's and 3's ,it really depends on what kind of team you are running, but generally warriors are not going to be focus fired at all, and if you are you can easily tank in 2's and 3's. But for 5's, you can easily be shot down from 80% - 5% health in no time, and warriors are now a very popular target in 5's, so i recommend battlemasters.

Overall, people tend to think that AP is uber l33t because of resillience, but they're wrong. Crit is sti ll extremely good in PvP and some people love to stack it. Where you're standing right now stat wise, MAKE SURE to get 79 hit and start stacking either AP or Crit, whichever suits you. Generally you want about 1650 unbuffed AP and 32% crit in zerker. If you are really serious about PvP and are willing to spend a good amount of gold on it, don't get any cheap ****. Get all blue/epic gems, get nethercobra hide, get every enchant that you can. It all adds up.

And about the armor penetration, you should have your targets sundered 5x, and with executioner that should bring any clothie down to 0.

Good luck.

my friends priest has 4k armor with inner fire up. druids have around 3500 armor in pvp gear. executioner is nice, but its not up full time. having an on-demand -600 armor is nicer than most people think. its 3/4 of an executioner enchant at the press of a button.

I wish I had PvP gear, I just cbf trying to get it anymore. But in my raiding gear i have 1800 AP (unbuffed) and 35% crit (when specced for 2h) My wpn dmg is the sux but again, I cbf trying to get another one. I prolly should have taken the sword from kael...but I passed >.<

okay so the use on the trinket is good, but the passive is totally unneccesary. I'd rather have crit or ap and get 79 hit through gems, which shouldn't be hard at all.

you wouldnt say that if youve lost as many arenas as i have because you see "execute: miss" on another damn frost mage who specs into artic winds.

and theres a lot of those bastards on my battlegroup.

Yeah, i think i've seen quite a bit in the arena! But it's not worth switching out a trinket just because you don't want to miss execute on a frost mage?
