I'm entirely too lazy to update my entire Talent Build Review to accommodate new changes, so instead, I've decided to keep a collection of talent builds here, sans the lengthy explanation. They are organized into PvP and PvE sections, but placement within those sections is fairly haphazard.

Judge the builds on your own merit, and if you need further explanation as to why I chose certain talents over others, or what types of cycles you should use with each build, somebody will be happy to explain. I will try to update this thread and respond to questions frequently. Furthermore, if you'd like to add a build to this post, PM it to me and I'll take a look.

Note that all talent builds are for level 70 players. Leveling builds are easy to do, and there's already tons of places to find them. Also note that many PvE builds also work in PvP, such as Combat Mutilate. The same is not necessarily true for PvP builds in a PvE environment.

PvE:
41/20/0 Mutilate
20/41/0 Combat Swords
15/41/5 Combat Daggers
16/45/0 Combat Mace/Sword
11/27/23 Hemo Swords

PvP:
20/0/41 Shadowstep
0/31/30 HARP
30/0/31 SF/Premed

PvE:
41/20/0 Mutilate //Why imp SS?
20/41/0 Combat Swords
15/41/5 Combat Daggers //Again imp SS?
16/45/0 Combat Mace/Sword
11/27/23 Hemo Swords //Not as good as it used to be

PvP:
Mutilate pls Smiley: tongue
20/0/41 Shadowstep //Ruthlessness and relentless strikes > imp evis
0/31/30 HARP //riposte or imp SnD + silencing kick personal choice
30/0/31 SF/Premed //I'd still take relentless strikes

Probably because a cheaper SS on the occasions where you can't get behind an enemy is still more useful than 2% dodge chance. Unless you do an awful lot of solo PvE where you think the dodge chance will come in handy, of course.

Within my time as mutilate(kara+gruul), the only times I needed to use SS, was if the tank did not understand that he needed to tank a inch more down the path so I could get behind my target(infernals on prince etc.). Apart from that, I don't believe I had any trouble mutilating a boss...

Still I know the first 5 talents in combat do not matter for a dagger build, so not a big deal.

Shiv.

BTW, here are a few builds you forgot in PvP.

44/0/17 Mutilate
49/0/12 Mutilate
27/0/34 Imp EA/Cheat Death build (only used in 3s as RWD or maybe in 2s with a feral druid, though you're usually better off going mut or shs)

I'm debating on making a PvP guide to talents, gear, etc that I can keep updated.

Edit: and I didn't see how bad your PvP builds were, but man Demea, those are AWFUL.

I PvP about as often as I visit my dentist.

I was typing fast. It was obviously meant to be 12.

I believe Demea's intent was to provide suggested builds, not hard and fast Rules of Rogue. One would take a build and modify it to suite, not simply follow blindly. For example, my own PVP build is similar to the one listed for Shadowstep, but I modified it to suit my taste. I took a few things Demea didn't list like Relentless Strikes and I think a point or so of Enveloping Shadows, in the end its this 16/0/45 build here. I use it with swords in the event of respeccing for Kara or Raids.

There's really no debate here. Demea suggested some builds, a place for a noobie rogue to look and get an idea of what he might want to do (level with combat, respec at 70 :p).

Thanks Demea, I am sure it will help many people.

Edit: Now that I actually looked at my build for the first time in ages, I'm gonna move the three points from ES to MoS. No idea why they're like that, that stupid Arcane Blast still gets me every time.

Ew. MoS is a crappy talent.

EnvS has some applications (resisting Piercing Howl, Howl of Terror, Psychic Scream, Frost Nova, etc is priceless), but MoS really only has applications in duels, world PvP, and dagger sub builds.

You'd be better off taking 4 points out of sub and moving them to combat to get 5/5 Vile Poisons either way, though.

It's pretty much one of the best talents for PvP, period.

I think MoS was only ever used as "another Ambush buff"... So yeah, its crap.

Is it acceptable to take Sleight of Hand over Heightened Senses for the -2% to be crit'd (20/0/41)?
I have Perception and not much resilience gear yet (haven't been 70 for very long).

I'd say yes as a human, but only as a human.

HS comes in handy though, since if you blow your Perception too early, you're gonna need it.

Yeah, once I get decent resilience I'll spec out of it =)
