pre-2.4, i've always rolled need on nethers since 1) i can actually make stuff with them, and 2) warriors need at least 8 to craft the full wildguard and iceguard resist plate sets for hydross. on a heroic mech run last night though, everyone agreed to roll greed on them since they are non-BoP. i have a good stack of them in the bank now, so i don't need them atm... but say i do, am i justified to roll need? sounds like a dumb question, but i can already see some n00b also rolling need so he can put it up for sale at the AH ><

I'm not sure why you are even worried about it.

Seriously, right now everyone who had a stock pile with nothing or no interest to do anything with them are throwing them up on the AH for their quick buck.

If you really do need some nether, go buy it. You can probably pick them up for as low as 35 to 40g if you spend 30mins browsing your usual web sites with the game in the background waiting for you to renew the nether search every 5mins.

If your group agreed to greed, then that's what you should do.

If it were strictly up to me though, and with the changes no longer placing nether as soulbound, there'd be a generalized rule that Nether = everyone roll need simply to save everyone from the headache of 4 people rolling greed only for the jackass who will claim to not have read the agreed upon terms to roll need.

Just because you honestly need something that's not soulbound doesn't mean you should get it. Ideally it'd be up to that specific group as a whole that you rolled out with on what would be done with the item.
