So I've looked at few people's set's of armor and I'm curious as to what I should put into my Spellfire set. I just made the belt, and I was going to put a +9 spell dmg and a +8 spell hit. Does that sound reasonable?

Or do I craft the whole set first, then try to figure out the hit cap (164 for fire?)and the spell damage later?

I am only going to raid.

once you get most of it go do the quest in magT and get the +12 damage. Use other slots for hit, then dmg, then crit.

Go for the hit cap early and gem up each piece as you get em. Plan on regemming. Each gem should cost you no more than about half an hour of Sunwell dailies.

Following along these lines, is it not worth it to match gem/socket color? I know this is a topic that's been covered before, but it felt pertinent to this discussion.

Only worry about it when the socket bonus is enough to make up for using an inferior gem(sorry, but as much as I like Glowing gems I prefer Veiled and Runed much more) or when you're trying to meet a metagem requirement.

I was under the impression that once I gemmed an item, I could not remove and regem it..is this not the case with epics?

Also,

How do I figure out how much +hit i'll need to be capped? My end spec will be 2/48/11 with the spellstrike and spellfire set. Thanks!

Spell hit cap is 164 with 3 points in elemental precision. As for regemming, you cannot take out gems, but you can put gems in over them, destroying what was already locked in.

You cannot remove gems, but if you open up the socket window and put a new gem in the spot, the old gem will be destroyed and you have regemmed your gear.

Thanks for the information. I will start to work on my hit cap of 164 then. I'm guessing that I will see this number in the same place I look at my spell damage.

Per Poldy, I will only put blue(rare) gems into sockets. Thanks all. I hope to join my first raid on Saturday. I'm going to check the forums for info on what add-ons to have for raiding.

Any pointers from the old-schoolers, so I don't make a complete **** of myself?

Thanks again. You all are gods.

Get up to date bigwigs/DeadlyBossMods and Omen, the rest are mostly at your discretion. Decursive is nice as well.
